The first groups are ready to tee off in the third round at the PGA Championship, and here's who we are following:
| Groups We're Watching |
| 1:40 p.m. ET, Hole No. 1 |
Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh The last time these two were paired together (2004 PGA Championship, first and second rounds), Singh won. Tiger would like to see a different outcome this time around.
| 1:31 p.m. ET, Hole No. 1 |
Brendan Jones, Lucas Glover An unlikely group will be the second-last to head off today. What a story it would be if Glover could make another major run in the final major of 2009.
| 1:22 p.m. ET, Hole No. 1 |
Ross Fisher, Padraig Harrington The other two players at 3 under will be looking up at Woods, but Paddy has gotten used to the spotlight after two rounds with Tiger already.

EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR on-site correspondent Brian Katrek previews Saturday's round:
| Saturday's forecast |
Isolated T-Storms Temp: 84 high/68 low Sun and clouds with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Winds from the south at 15 to 25 mph. |

Tiger Woods was as patient as I have seen him in a long time on a blustery Friday afternoon. He, like everyone else in the field, had many chances to make some big numbers. This was different than Thursday, when he seemed in total control. I don't think he struck the ball any worse in Round 2, it was just that the conditions were so much tougher.
For the second week in a row, Tiger has a strip of lead tape on the bottom of his putter. Last week at the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational, Woods said that the greens were not as fast as they looked. These greens at Hazeltine are the same type of grass as last week, but almost certainly faster. Distance control on the greens was an issue in the second round for Tiger. I wonder if the lead tape might come off.
The crowds out on the golf course have been amazing. Every conceivable vantage point is taken and usually there is a person or two waiting behind for the spot to open up. There are even folks who have houses bordering the property who have constructed elevated viewing platforms in their backyards to see over the fences. And these are not homemade jobs either. These things look like they are built the same as the big bleachers out on the course. I expect even more on the weekend. There are so many people out here there are actually two blimps.

Ryo Ishikawa made his first major cut after missing earlier this year in the Masters and British Open. At 17 years and 10 months old, Ishikawa does not break the record for the youngest player to make the cut in the major. Tommy Jacobs made the cut at the 1952 Masters at 17 year and 1 month old. Ishikawa is the youngest player to ever compete in the PGA Championship. |
