| About the art |
New York City artist Steven Anthony Salerno created the original artwork for this week's PGATOUR.COM Player Spotlight on Tiger Woods. Salerno explains how he created the Tiger artwork:
"Since I was creating an image of one of the most recognizable sports icons on the planet, especially when he is dressed in his Sunday black and red colors, it gave me the opportunity to push the envelope, allowing me to not even have to depict his face in any detail. All I had to show was a bit of his cap, arms, red shirt (the one he wore at Firestone on Sunday) and some of his black pants, and any golfing viewer would know it is of Tiger Woods. So I cropped in close on the painting to obtain the truncated composition that you see in the final art piece. And the fact that he had just won his 70th event was just too compelling of a number to not include as a graphic element within the image."
