Tom Watson, Sergio Garcia, Matteo Manassero
One of the great stories of Round 1 carries over into Friday. Can Tom Watson remain in contention for another major at the age of 59?

PREVIEW: PGA.com Interactive Producer T.J. Auclair previews Friday's second round from Turnberry:

What a wild first round it was at Turnberry. Call it turn back the clock day, as past Open champions Tom Watson and Mark Calcavecchia each held the lead at one point.

Watson was the story of the day, however. The 59-year-old, who's a five-time Open champion, won at Turnberry the first time the Open was played there some 32 years ago in 1977. His 5-under 65 in Round 1 was simply magical.

Can Old Tom keep it up in the second round? The conditions will likely dictate that. The forecast for Friday calls through rain throughout, along with winds gusting up to 20 mph -- a lot more like Open Championship weather than the sun-filled, nearly windless day we saw on Thursday.

As for Tiger Woods, he has some work to do after a disappointing 1-over 71 in Round 1. If he can post a good number on Friday, the wind might be the ultimate equalizer in helping him get back in the hunt.
