PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- D.A. Points' incomparable finish in Miami to secure his 2009 PGA TOUR card and the Tour's first $1 million events in 2008 were unveiled over the weekend as the 17th and 18th moments in the Nationwide Tour's "20 Greatest Moments" program, which spotlights the Tour's 20th-year celebration.

2008 / Points secures TOUR card with incomparable finish in Miami
Few finishes in Nationwide Tour history compare with what D.A. Points pulled off at the 2008 Miccosukee Championship in Miami. Trailing leader Matt Bettencourt by one shot standing in the 72nd fairway, Points holed a wedge from 125 yards. The tournament went to extra holes when Bettencourt made his pressure-packed 15-footer for birdie. Returning to the same hole, Points nearly repeated his eagle performance, setting up a short birdie putt to capture the title. An ecstatic Points moved 25 spots up the money list to 15th in the Tour's penultimate event of the year, assuring his PGA TOUR card for 2009. WATCH

2008 / Nationwide Tour plays $1 million events for first time
Reflective of the growth the Nationwide Tour is enjoying, the 2008 Nationwide Tour Players Cup and Nationwide Tour Championship announced purses of $1 million, marking the first time the Tour played for seven figures in prize money. The impact on the competition for "THE 25" PGA TOUR cards for 2009 was particularly significant at November's season-ending Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch near Dallas when Matt Bettencourt won, catapulting to No. 1 on the money list and earning a coveted spot in the 2009 PLAYERS Championship. The two remaining "Greatest Moments" will be unveiled this week during the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft on GOLF CHANNEL and on PGATOUR.COM.

The No. 1 moment in Nationwide Tour history will be announced on GOLF CHANNEL and PGATOUR.COM on the final day of the season (Oct. 25) during the Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island (S.C.). The greatest moment will be based on a fan vote conducted on PGATOUR.COM that will commence after all 20 moments have been revealed.

The "20 Greatest Moments" is the centerpiece of this year's 20th-year celebration of the Nationwide Tour. The roster of "Moments" features events and activities that have had significant bearing on the evolution, growth, impact and promotion of the Tour over the last 20 years, both on and off the golf course. "Moments" will involve alumni highlights from the Nationwide Tour and PGA TOUR and will span the late 1980s, '90s and current decade.
