PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The Nationwide Tour announced today it will launch the centerpiece of its 20th-year celebration, a program called the "20 Greatest Moments" in Nationwide Tour history, this week.

The first two moments will air on GOLF CHANNEL'S first domestic telecast of 2009, the Stonebrae Classic from the TPC San Francisco Bay, and on PGATOUR.COM. Eighteen more moments (two per event) will be unveiled on Tour telecasts on GOLF CHANNEL and PGATOUR.COM through the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft (Sept. 17-20).
A fan promotion will be conducted over the final five tournament weeks of the season to identify the No. 1 moment in the history of the Nationwide Tour based on a PGATOUR.COM vote. The No. 1 moment will be announced on Sunday of the season-ending Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island (Oct. 25th). Additional promotion details will be announced at a later date.
"Since its inception in 1990, the Nationwide Tour has produced hundreds of wonderful moments," said Nationwide Tour president Bill Calfee. "With so many to choose from it was a challenge to narrow the list down to just 20. With the input and voting participation of our tournaments, members of the media and TOUR staff members, we feel we have compiled a list of 20 events that are the most memorable and significant in Tour history and helped shaped what is now the modern day Nationwide Tour. We think golf fans will enjoy the moments as they are unveiled over the coming months and we invite them to participate in the voting process on PGATOUR.COM in September and October."
The roster of "Moments" features events and activities that have had significant bearing on the evolution, growth, impact and promotion of the Tour over the last 20 years, both on and off the golf course. Moments will involve alumni highlights from the Nationwide Tour and PGA TOUR and span the late 1980s, '90s and current decade.
Other activities that will be taking place in support of the Nationwide Tour's 20th year are an alumni reunion of players at THE PLAYERS Championship in early May, on-site signage and branding at tournaments of caddies bibs, scoreboards and fan exhibits, and other tournament-related promotional events.
