| Course origins |
Prestonwood Country Club was started by Murray Savings and Loan based in Dallas, Texas. The golf course is built on a flood plain with the land being aquired from several farmers that farmed cotton, corn, soybeans and tobacco. |
The club and residential community was purchased by Dr. Jim Goodnight in 1992 and was expanded from 27 holes to 54 holes by 1995. The clubhouse is over 35,000 sq. ft. and has expanded from six clay composition tennis courts to 15 by adding nine surface courts. The driving range tee consists of over two acres of teeing space. |
| Since 1994, the club has also had an aquatic/health fitness center. Prestonwood has approximately 2400 members with about 1400 being full golf members. -- Source: Golf Course Superintendents Association of America |
