WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Champions Tour announced Friday it will contribute $10,000 through the Birdies for Charity program to benefit the Northeast Iowa Tornadoes Assistance Fund. The donation is on behalf of the Champions Tour players participating in the Principal Charity Classic this week in West Des Moines, Iowa.

"The Champions Tour is about giving back to the communities we serve and our players felt the best way to help those affected by this terrible tragedy was to make a contribution to the Northeast Iowa Tornadoes Assistance Fund through Birdies for Charity," said Mike Stevens, the Champions Tour Chief Operating Officer.

In addition, area fans and residents have an option to support the relief through 'Birdies for Charities'. Every birdie made during the three days of competition by the 78 Champions Tour players during the 2008 Principal Charity Classic can be pledged for charity.

Visit the Principal Charity Classic Web site for more information.
