By Dave Senko, PGA TOUR Staff

• Co-leaders Nick Price and David Eger are both seeking their first win in 2008. Eger is a two-time winner on the Champions Tour, the last coming at the 2005 Boeing Greater Seattle Classic. Price has yet to win a Champions Tour title in 32 previous starts.

• The last time Eger led or shared the first-round lead was at the 2007 Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. He eventually finished T7. On two occasions this year, Price held the first-round lead. The first was at the AT&T Champions Classic and the second at the FedEx Kinko's Classic.

• Current Charles Schwab Cup leader Jay Haas (2,556) opened with a 3-under-par 69 and is T6, while Fred Funk, currently second in the race (2,544), shot a 74 and is T29. Rounding out the players currently in the top five in the points race are Bernhard Langer (71/T21), Eduardo Romero (69/T6) and John Cook (70/T15).

Bob Gilder made his 122nd consecutive start on the Champions Tour on Thursday, a streak that began at the 2004 JELD-WEN Tradition. It is the longest current streak on Tour.

• Price, Tom Kite and D.A. Weibring all posted bogey-free rounds on Thursday.

• The field averaged 69.897 on Thursday with 23 of 29 players finishing with rounds below par and 14 rounds in the 60s. In 2007, the scoring average in Round One was 70.483.

• Hole No. 4 was the most difficult with a scoring average of 3.138 (+.138). The easiest was No. 13 with an average of 4.448 (-.522). The most difficult hole to make a birdie was No. 4 and just one player made a birdie -- Jeff Sluman.

• There were no eagles recorded in the first round.

Gilder

• Playing as a solo, Bob Gilder played his round in two hours, 40 minutes and shot a 3-under-par 69. Gilder was the last player into this event, jumping Joe Ozaki for the 30th spot at last week's AT&T Championship in San Antonio.

• Gilder and Mark McNulty are the only former winners of this event in this year's field. Each is T6 after opening-round 69s.

• There are 10 new faces in this year's field of 29 players. Tom Watson would have been the 30th, but is out following hip replacement surgery earlier this month.
