SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Tom Watson and Andy North won their fourth Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf title and the first in the Legends Division (team format) when they prevailed by one stroke over Jeff Sluman and Craig Stadler on Sunday. Watson and North won three consecutive Raphael Division titles (2005-07).

• The victory was the 12th for Watson on the Champions Tour and the first for North, and each player earned $225,000 for the win. In addition, North, who was a non-exempt player on the Champions Tour, earns a spot in next year's MasterCard Championship at Hualalai as well a one-year exemption into all Champions Tour events with the exception of major championships.

• By playing bogey-free golf for all 54 holes, Watson and North have now played a remarkable 162 consecutive holes without a bogey in this event, dating back to 2005. North's victory was his first since the 1985 U.S. Open (at Oakland Hills), a span of 22 years, 10 months and 11 days.

• North and Watson became the ninth team to go wire-to-wire in this event. North also did so in 2000 and 2001 with Jim Colbert.

• Watson and North each earned 225 points in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup race and Watson's effort moved him into fourth place with 633 points. Bernhard Langer continues to lead the race with 901 points followed by Scott Hoch with 703 points. Jay Haas remains in third place with 692 points. Watson and John Cook (452 points) round out the top five. At the end of the official season, the player earning the most Charles Schwab Cup points will receive a $1 million payout.

• The victory was the second in succession for Watson, who was a one-stroke victor a week ago at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am near Tampa. Sunday's win was the 51st in a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event for the eight-time major championship winner on the PGA TOUR. North is a two-time major championship winner.

Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam had a fine showing in their first appearance in the event, finishing in third place. The two Champions Tour rookies posted a closing-round 12-under-par 60, the low round on Sunday and split $216,000.

• Jay Haas, who won the stroke play event here a year ago, finished tied for 23rd with his partner, Curtis Strange.
