Pick: Vijay Singh
In his five starts at the Wachovia Championship, Vijay Singh has yet to miss a cut. Furthermore, there's only been one occasion where he's finished outside of the top 10. He was a runner-up at the event's inaugural playing in 2003 and won it in 2005. With Tiger Woods sitting out while he recovers from his knee surgery, I like Singh's chances at Quail Hollow.

Pick: Vijay Singh
Win. Runner-up. Tied for 10th. Tied for 7th. The Wachovia Championship has only been around for five years and those are Singh's finishes in four of them. Pretty impressive, huh? Look for him to dominate again at Quail Hollow. After all, he's due for a victory after finishing inside the top five in four of his past six tries in 2008.

Don't usually do this back-to-back thing, but . . . . Why not? That opening 63 in Houston may have been more notable than we thought. Don't let that easy demeanor and smile fool you. He's one tough player and, yes, this could be the start of a run.

Pick: Jim Furyk
A ball-striker's layout demands the selection of a pure ball-striker. Rested and refreshed after a week off, Furyk returns to a place where he owns a victory. Should be in the mix here again.

Pick: Jim Furyk

I like Jim Furyk to become the first multiple winner of the Wachovia Championship. Solid play once again in Hilton Head Island with a tie for fourth at the Verizon Heritage has Jim's game in shape and ready for Quail Hollow. The former U.S. Open champ plays tough golf courses well. Although Jim has three top-five finishes this year, it won't be a good year by his standards without a win. Look for that win to come soon.

Pick: Vijay Singh
In the five-year history of the Wachovia, Vijay has the second highest success percentage (behind Anthony Kim who only has one start). In Vijay's five appearances at the event, he has banked four top-10 finishes. He won in 2005 and finished second in 2003, the first year of the tournament. While Vijay is fourth in the FedEx Cup standings (with four top-10s and seven top-25s this season) he has not lifted a trophy since the Arnold Palmer Invitational over a year ago. Vijay is due for a victory and I think he will return home for THE PLAYERS next week with a new addition to his trophy case.

Pick: Phil Mickelson

He's had three near-misses at this event, and the wet conditions (making the course longer) won't bother Lefty at all. Big names generally do the trophy lifting here, and it's Mickelson's turn this week.

Pick: Vijay Singh
He's got four top-10s in five starts at the Wachovia Championship -- including a victory in 2005, a tie for second in '03 and a share of seventh last year. The World Golf Hall of Famer hasn't won in more than a year, although he has four top-10s in his last six starts. So this could be just the place for Singh to shake things up.

An obvious selection, but no less worthy. His clutch finish at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship might prove to be an initiator to bigger things in the Aussie's career. Has been playing well since Houston, but got derailed by illness. He's fit now and his game is healthy, too.

Pick: Jim Furyk
Tough courses summon tough players, like a former U.S. Open champion. Furyk's strength -- 72 percent driving accuracy -- is the answer to Quail Hollow test; find the fairways that were the most difficuly on TOUR to hit in 2007 - just 47 percent. The King of the Queen City in 2006 takes the throne again.
