Volunteer positions available at WGC-CA Championship

DORAL, Fla. -- As players around the globe continue in their attempts to qualify for the World Golf Championships-CA Championship, tournament officials announced that there are openings for fans interested in volunteer positions at the March 18-23 event at Doral Golf Resort & Spa, Doral, Fla.

The tournament will feature the top players in the world in a no-cut, head- to-head, stroke-play tournament for a total purse of $5 million dollars and the winner receiving $1.3 million.

Field update: Current FedExCup points leader J.B. Holmes , who won the FBR Open for the second time two weeks ago, would join the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh and Adam Scott as those qualified through his FedExCup standing if the deadline were this week.

The other players in the top-10 in FedExCup points who need to hold on to their standing through the March 10 deadline include AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am champion Steve Lowery (3 rd ), Mercedes-Benz Championship winner Daniel Chopra (4 th ), Justin Leonard (6 th ) and Bob Hope Chrysler Classic winner D.J. Trahan (7 th ).

"The World Golf Championships-CA Championships traditionally hosts a field of the world's best golfers and this year will be no different," said Executive Director Eddie Carbone. "We are all excited to see how the next month unfolds as the final pieces to the field fit together."

Volunteers: With help from the selfless dedication and tireless efforts of the volunteer force, the CA Championship is able to give back millions of dollars to South Florida Golf Charities. Volunteers typically have the best seat in the house as the best golfers from across the globe meet at Doral Resort & Spa take on the Blue Monster.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to purchase a maximum of two Championship Club weekly tickets (Tues.-Sun.) for $62.50 each, which is half the regular price of $125.00 each.
