Don't know why Jim Furyk is hiding his face Saturday. After all, he blistered Bellerive on a long 36-hole day.

The BMW Championship is the third stage of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, and PGATOUR.COM's crew is on the scene in St. Louis. We'll provide continuous coverage of Saturday's second & third rounds, so check back often for live notes.
THIRD ROUND: Leaderboard | PGA TOUR Shot Tracker | FedExCup points points projection

LOOKING AHEAD: Once the third round is completed Sunday morning, the field will be re-paired. There were be threesomes going off both the 1st and 10th tees, with approximate tee times between 11 a.m-1 p.m. ET.

Of the 68 players in the field, 23 were not able to finish their rounds Saturday.-- (8:45 p.m. ET)

FURYK ON HIS DAY: Asked whether he expected to shoot 62-66 when he started the day, Jim Furyk replied: "Not really. I didn't see it coming."

He cited his second nine in the second round -- when he shot 7-under 28 on holes 1-9 (he started his second round on the 10th tee) -- as the key portion of the day.

"That one nine holes of golf really kind of leap-frogged me from, at the time, relaly nowhere to right up there close to the lead," Furyk said.

The 7-under 28, by the way, equals the best nine-hole score on TOUR in 2008. Briny Baird posted a 7-under 28 at Sedgefield Country Club at the Wyndham Championship. -- (8:40 p.m. ET)

HORN HAS BEEN BLOWN: Tournament officials have just blown the horn to end play Saturday, although players are still allowed to finish the holes they are on. Third-round play will resume Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Tournament co-leader Camilo Villegas will have five holes left in his third round. Villegas and Jim Furyk are tied at 12 under. -- (8:17 p.m. ET)

FURYK IN WITH 66: With a rare miscue off the tee, Jim Furyk bogeyed the final hole. But his round of 4-under 66, bookended with the 8-under 62 he shot Saturday morning, wraps up a terrific performance on a long day for Furyk.

That bogey dropped Furyk into a tie with Camilo Villegas at 12 under, two shots ahead of Brian Gay. But while Furyk is done, Villegas -- who just started his second nine -- will have to finish his third round Sunday morning. -- (7:47 p.m. ET)

GAY SOLID: After shooting a par of 67s to put him solidly in the hunt going into the third round, Brian Gay has continued his fine play Saturday afternoon. He's 4 under on his round and currently stands 10 under for the tournament -- one of just three players (Jim Furyk, Camilo Villegas) in double-digits under par.

In his first nine holes of the third round, Gay had six one-putt greens. -- (7:43 pm ET)

CHOI MAKES MOVE: K.J. Choi had made the biggest move to the first page of the leaderboard Saturday afternoon. He just put the finishing wraps on a 6-under 64 that leaves him at 8 under for the tournament going into Sunday's final round.

Choi has hit 46 of 54 greens in regulation this week, which ranks him No. 1 in the field. -- (7:37 p.m. ET)

RULING INCIDENT: An incident on the par-3 16th hole during the second round Saturday morning is still being reviewed by PGA TOUR rules officials.

Laird-mug.jpg
Laird

Martin Laird's tee shot hit the fringe and rolled 3 feet, 10 inches from the hole. Meanwhile, playing partner Bart Bryant's tee shot landed in the rough 48 feet, 1 iinch away.

There was a pitch mark on the collar of the green from Laird's tee shot. Laird tapped the mark that was in Bryant's line of play with his putter. After conferring with the USGA and with Laird, the ruling was that there was no intent (Rule 1-2, Exerting Influence on the Ball) by Laird to influence the position or the movement of Bryant's ball. Laird was merely repairing the pitch mark on the collar.

Violation of Rule 1-2 is a two-stroke penalty, but Laird actually would have been disqualified as he had already left the scoring area after signing his scorecard before having been assessed the two-stroke penalty (resulting in an incorrect scorecard). Laird made his putt and birdied the hole en route to his second-round 70 and was tied for 32nd through two rounds.

Bryant, though, was penalized two strokes (violation of Rule 13-2, Improving Lie, Area of Intended Stance or Swing or Line of Play) because the pitch mark (now repaired by Laird) was in his line of play.

Since there was a conversation between Laird and Bryant about the pitch mark, Bryant's "intent" about "allowing Laird to improve his line of play" is currently being reviewed by PGA TOUR rules officials and will be settled at the conclusion of play today.

In other words, the two strokes may or may not be rescinded. With the penalty, Bryant scored a triple-bogey 6 on the hole and posted a second-round 68 and was tied for through 36 holes. -- (7:20 p.m. ET)

UPDATE: Bryant was assessed a two-stroke penalty. Laird was not assessed a penalty. "I really didn't think there was an issue, but there was, and I got a two-shot penalty," Bryant said. "I just didn't think it would affect somebody else, and that's really what was hard for me. ... That was my main concern. I would have felt very miserable for (Laird) playing in a tournament that there's not even a cut and then he gets disqualified." (9:30 p.m. ET)

FURYK ACCURACY: One reason why Jim Furyk is sitting atop the leaderboard at 13 under? His accuracy off the tee.

With two holes left to play in his third round, Furyk has hit his last 23 fairways. His last missed fairway came early in the second round at the par-4 12th. Even then, he was barely off the fairway on the right side.

Overall, he has missed just four fairways at Bellerive this week. That's important considering how much the players have talked about the wet rough that's so penal.-- (7:15 p.m. ET)

VIJAY UPDATE: One thing you can bank on now -- Vijay Singh won't be running the table in the Playoffs.

The winner of the first two Playoff events, Singh is currently 2 over for the tournament with two holes to play in his third round.

He just has not been able to find the magic on the greens that he showed in the previous two weeks. Singh has made just four of 32 putts longer than 10 feet through his first 52 holes at Bellerive. Also, he's tied for 56th in the field (out of 69 players) in greens hit in regulation. -- (7 p.m. ET)

LOTS OF BENEFITS: The opportunity to play in THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola is coveted for a variety of reasons.

The top 30 players on the FedExCup standings not only have a chance to play for shares of a $7 million purse at East Lake -- and to improve their position when the $35 million bonus is parceled out -- they also earn spots on some key tournaments, such as the World Golf Championships-CA Championship, the U.S. Open and the Masters. -- Helen Ross (6:55 p.m. ET)

BOGEY-FREE PHIL: Phil Mickelson's bogey-free second round was just his third of the year. Mickelson joined D.J. Trahan, Aaron Baddeley, Rory Sabbatini and Billy Mayfair in shooting bogey-free second rounds Saturday.

Dudley Hart was the only player to shoot a bogey-free first round.

Unfortunately for Mickelson, he won't be bogey-free in Saturday afternoon's third round. He has two birdies and two bogeys in his first nine and has just made the turn at 35. Mickelson is 7 under for the tournament, five strokes behind co-leaders Jim Furyk and Camilo Villegas.

FEDEXCUP UPDATE: There hasn't been much movement today in the "elimination line." Here's what I said earlier today: "As of right now, that number [102,800] is correct -- Chad Campbell is just inside the line at 102,812, and Bubba Watson is just outside, at 102,768 (projected)."

At 6:15 pm, that is exactly where we are now. There has been some movement during the day, but it has settled in at this point.

There are still a number of players who could affect the line -- Brian Gay is above it, but if he drops a spot or two in the standings, he will drop back out, as will D.J. Trahan. A few people below the line, if they can get very hot on Sunday, could play their way in to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

Meanwhile, if Jim Furyk wins tomorrow and Vijay Singh finishes about where he is now (T49), Singh will have a 7,395 point lead on Furyk. If Furyk then wins at East Lake, Singh would need 5,105 to catch him, which is a tie for third or better.-- Steve Dennis (6:15 p.m. ET)

NEED ONE AT THE 16TH: Already on Saturday there have been aces at the third hole by Sergio Garcia and the 13th by Bart Bryant. We should be pulling for one at No. 16, though, since BMW will fund a four-year Evans Scholarship in the name of the player who makes it.

The Evans Scholars Foundation is the beneficiary of the tournament and administers the nation's largest privately funded college scholarship program. It provides full tuition and housing grants for deserving caddies and has helped more than 8,500 young men and woman -- Helen Ross (5:44 p.m. ET)

FURYK AT THE TURN: Jim Furyk just finished his first nine holes of the third round, making the turn at 3-under 32. That puts him at 11 under for the tournament, one shot ahead of Camilo Villegas.

Meanwhile, Brian Gay has jumped up among the leaders. He's 3 under for his round and 9 under for the tournament.

Furyk should have no problems in finishing his third round Saturday, but Villegas likely will not, since he was in the last group to tee off. Due to the 91-minute delay due to fog this morning, Villegas will have to wrap up his third round Sunday morning. -- (5:38 p.m. ET)

ROUND 1 VS. 2: The second round at Bellerive was much easier than the first -- in fact, nearly a half-stroke easier. -- (5:32 p.m. ET)

VILLEGAS AT THE MIDWAY POINT: That four-putt from 60 feet for double bogey at the 10th hole would have unnerved some players. Not Camilo Villegas, who responded with birdies on his next two holes and played the back nine in 4 under to seize sole possession of the lead at the midway point of the BMW Championship.

Villegas-mug.jpg
Villegas

"It wasn't pretty there, but came back and made birdie-birdie," said Villegas, who is 9 under through 36 holes. "Four putts always feel a little shaky. They rattle your day, rattle your head. Fortunately it rattled mine in a good way and I came back birdie-birdie."

VIllegas, who tied for third last week at the Duetsche Bank Championship, is clearly enjoying the late-season ride that has lifted him to 25th in the FedExCup standings.

"It's fun when you're playing good, that you can come back and make some birdies, and those bad shots don't bother you as much," Villegas said.

And the plan for the afternoon?

"Keep going, man, keep playing good," the young Colombian said. -- Helen Ross (4:59 p.m. ET)

FURYK ON HIS 62: The grass at Bellerive Country Club was so wet Jim Furyk said it felt a "little like walking up sand" on Saturday morning during the second round of the BMW Championship.

Furyk-mug.jpg
Furyk

Furyk still managed a sizzling 62 that lifted him to 8 under for the tournament and one stroke behind Camilo Villegas at the midway point of the third Playoff event. He finished with a flourish, with birdies in his last five holes to shoot 28 on the front nine, which was his second of the day.

"I finished strong," Furyk said in understatement. "Hopefully I can get that momentum going into the next round. It's a little bit of a marathon today. We're going to play a lot of golf. The ground is wet. It's like walking on sand out there, and guys are going to get tired out.

"So I'll try to save and conserve some energy and basically go out there and I'll really try to stay focused towards the end of the day when I get tired."

Putting was the key for Furyk, who used 23 in the second round, which was 10 fewer than he did over the opening 18. He hit all but one fairway and 13 of 18 greens.

"I'm looking forward to going back out there," Furyk said. "I felt good about my game yesterday. I didn't score well, didn't get the ball in the hole real well shooting even par, but it turned around quickly. It seemed like they came in bunches.

"Yesterday I knocked a lot of putts in, I hit a lot of good ones. Today I finished up birdieing the last five, knocking in five 10- to 15-footers. They kind of came in bunches when they did, and you just had to stay patient."

Furyk knows he'll need to have the same mindset Saturday afternoon during the third round on this marathon day.

"I know the last nine is going to be a struggle," Furyk said. "The turf here is very wet. ... We're going to tire out a little bit. I think it's really try to keep your mental really mentally stay with the last nine holes so when you get tired you can keep going." -- Helen Ross (4:45 p.m. ET)

BRYANT'S FIRST ACE: PGA TOUR officials have confirmed that Bart Bryant's ace is the first in his lengthy TOUR career. Bryant, who turned pro in 1986, is playing in the 291st TOUR event this week. -- (4:33 p.m. ET)

FEDEXCUP UPDATE: Several players who need it to get to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola are having a great tournament thus far at Bellerive It will be interesting to see which ones can hold on to get in.

Tim Clark is on the bubble at 28th, but is currently T7 and projected at 23rd.

D.J. Trahan started the tournament in 35th place, and is tied for fourth at this point, giving himself a projected 24th.

Boo Weekley was just outside the top 30, but is currently in at a projected 27th, tied for 14th in the tournament.

Kevin Streelman, who had a great finish at The Barclays to climb way up in the standings, needs another good week to reach East Lake. He's nearly there, tied for 21st, putting him at a projected 31st.

Brian Gay started in 58th, so he needs a great week. He's having one that's nearly good enough, at tied for 4th. That isn't quite good enough yet, though -- he is projected at 33rd. -- Steve Dennis (4:20 p.m. ET)

SECOND ROUND DONE: Thanks to a birdie on his last hole in the second round, Camilo Villegas enters the third round with the lead at 9 under, one stroke ahead of Jim Furyk and two ahead of Phil Mickelson.

Here's an updated list of the leads that Villegas has held during his short career on the PGA TOUR: -- (4:25 p.m. ET)

RYDER PAIRINGS: Phil Mickelson played with Ryder Cup teammates Kenny Perry and Anthony Kim in Friday's first round. Now, because there are no re-pairings in between the second and third rounds, he had another American "team meeting" for 36 holes on Saturday, paired with Kim and one of Paul Azinger's Captain's Picks, J.B. Holmes. ...

The 68 players remaining in the field had less than 90 minutes to relax, get a bite to eat and practice before the second round began. Among the topics of conversation on the putting green were the Ohio-Ohio State game and the U.S. Open semifinal match between Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray. -- Helen Ross (4:15 p.m. ET)

NOW BRYANT HAS HOLE-IN-ONE: Bart Bryant just aced the 186-yard 13th with a 5-iron. That's two aces today (Sergio Garcia had one earlier; see below).

Bryant's ace is the 22nd on the PGA TOUR this year (click here for chart) and the 39th in BMW Championship history (click here for chart). -- (4:10 p.m. ET)

SERGIO DISCUSSES HIS ACE: Sergio Garcia has made aces before, but never in competition as an amateur or professional. So Saturday's 5-iron that found the cup at No. 3 was a bonus in his second straight round of 68.

Garcia-mug.jpg
Garcia

"I've had like 7 of them, always in practice round or something like that," Garcia said. "So I was very excited for me. I have been very close many times but I never expected to make the first one from 205 yards. It was nice."

Garcia bogeyed the sixth hole but responded with birdies on his next three holes to move to 6 under and one stroke off the lead. He wasn't able to maintain that momentum, though, and will start the afternoon's third round four shots behind Jim Furyk.

"(It) definitely did (jump-start my round)," Garcia said. "After that I played pretty good. Unfortunately I just lost a little coming in. I hit a couple of bad shots coming in. I am happy the round is over and I'm looking forward to this afternoon." -- Helen Ross (4:05 p.m. ET)

STREAK ENDS: Jim Furyk just two-putted from 41 feet for par at the par-4 second. The rest of the field just let out a huge sigh of relief. -- (3:45 p.m. ET)

MAKE THAT SIX STRAIGHT: While it doesn't officially count as a continuation of his birdie streak, Jim Furyk just birdied the first hole of his third round to go to 9 under. Furky poured in a 19-foot, 11-inch putt for birdie.

To follow Furyk's round on PGA TOUR Shot Tracker, click here. -- (3:35 p.m. ET)

NOW FOR THE THIRD ROUND: Although some players have yet to finish their second rounds, the players with early tee times for the third round are now on the course. That includes FedExCup points leader Vijay Singh, who has just completed his first hole (he's even par for the tournament).

First-round leader Camilo Villegas still has three holes left in his second round, but he has now tied Jim Furyk atop the leaderboard at 8 under.

Phil Mickelson, who shot a 5-under 65 in the second round and is 7 under for the tournament, tees off at 4:10 p.m. ET. -- (3:27 p.m. ET)

HOW HE DID IT: Jim Furyk fashioned his 8-under 62 in the second round with seven birdies and one eagle against one bogey. He hit 13 of 14 fairways, and 13 of 18 greens in regulation, and needed just 23 putts (he took 33 putts to shot even-par 70 in Friday's first round).

Here are the details of his seven birdies and one eagle. -- (3:22 p.m. ET)

BIRDIE STREAKS: In case you're wondering, Jim Furyk's five consecutive birdies to end his second round Saturday is not the longest birdie streak of the year.

Nine times this year -- including twice by Kenny Perry -- have players put together a string of six straight birdies. Furyk's five-birdie streak, meanwhile, is the 25th time this year that has happened. -- (3:10 p.m. ET)

GREAT FOR SCORING: Bellerive is obviously ripe for scoring right now. Besides Jim Furyk's 8-under 62, D.J. Trahan just wrapped up a 7-under 63, while Aaron Baddeley is in with a 6-under 64. Tommy Armour's also about to wrap up one of the low rounds of the day -- he started at 1 over but is now at 5 under with one hole left.

Phil Mickelson has also moved back onto the top page of the leaderboard; he's 5 under for the tournament.

FedExCup points leader Vijay Singh, however, couldn't keep up the pace, shooting his second consecutive even-par 70. And Mike Weir, who entered the tournament third in points, shot a 2-over 72 and is 1 over after two rounds.

But the question now is whether the course will be giving up as many low scores in Saturday afternoon's third round. The course should continue to dry, which means Bellerive's big greens should be firmer. -- (3:02 p.m. ET)

QUICK TURNAROUND: Having just finished shooting a 8-under 62, Jim Furyk doesn't have much time to bask in tying a career low. He's scheduled to tee off in the third round in less than 30 minutes. -- (2:54 p.m. ET)

FURYK'S FEDEXCUP IMPACT: Jim Furyk's 8-under 62 to take over the second-round lead Saturday gives him hope in the FedExCup. But what does points leader Vijay Singh have to do to crush that hope?

Well, Singh needs a total of 7,231 points in the two remaining events to put the FedExCup out of Furky's reach, even if Furyk were to win the last two Playoff events. But 7,231 isn't easy -- right now, Singh is projected to earn 2,185 points at the BMW Championship, so he'd need another 5,046 points in Atlanta.

A fourth-place finish for Singh wouldn't suffice -- Singh would need a tie for third or better at East Lake.

Of course, the toughest part of all this is Furyk winning twice ... but stranger things have happened. -- Steve Dennis (2:45 p.m. ET)

62s ON TOUR: Jim Furyk is the 15th player on the PGA TOUR in 2008 to shoot a 62. Furyk just completed his 8-under 62 at the BMW Championship to take a one-stroke lead in the second round. -- (2:39 p.m. ET)

LEADERBOARD UPDATE: Jim Furyk has taken over the top spot at 7 under; Furyk, who has made four consecutive birdies, is 7 under on his round with one hole to play.

Meanwhile, Camilo Villegas dropped back to 5 under for the tournament after a double-bogey on the ninth hole. But he just birdied the 10th to move to 6 under, tying him with D.J. Trahan, Sergio Garcia and Fredrik Jacobson. -- (2:08 p.m. ET)

Thus far in Saturday's second round, three players have already eagled -- Briny Baird, Jim Furyk and Sergio Garcia.

Baird holed out from 117 yards on the 11th hole. Furyk holed out from 113 yards on the second hole. And Garcia had the hole-in-one on the third hole. -- (1:40 p.m. ET)

WEEKLEY & FEDEXCUP: Boo Weekley is making a strong statement so far today.

weekleymug.jpg
Weekley

He was one of the players who expressed their disappointment that the increased volatility in the Playoffs this year could mean that a great regular season would not be rewarded with a trip to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola unless that player also did well in the first three events.

Weekley was 31st in the standings coming into the BMW Championship, down from the 14th seed after a missed cut at The Barclays and a T27 at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

On Saturday, however, he is 7 under, making him 6 under for the tournament and tied for second. If he stays there, he'll move to 12th in the FedExCup standings. -- Steve Dennis (1:37 p.m. ET)

ANOTHER BOMB: John Mallinger just dropped in a 58-foot putt on the fourth hole. That's the longest putt of the tournament. -- (1:31 p.m. ET)

TOP 30 UPDATE: Here's where the top 30 seeds coming into the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup are now:

Tiger Woods (No. 1 seed) has not, of course, played and has dropped to 32. He's the only player still in the top 70 in the points standings who did not start the BMW Championship, and he is currently projected to drop to 70th.

Sean O'Hair (16) and Jeff Quinney (25) are out of the Playoffs, finishing 75th and 88th, respectively.

Boo Weekley (14), DJ Trahan (18), J.B. Holmes (22), Adam Scott (24), Padraig Harrington (4) and Stephen Ames (30) started the BMW Championship outside the top 30 and need to play their way back in. Of those 6, only Weekley and Trahan have gotten back into position to make THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola as of right now.

Of the others who started in the top 30, only Geoff Ogilvy was in significant danger of dropping out of the top 30 this week. He was the 10th seed coming into the Playoffs, but has dropped to 30th at the start of the BMW Championship.

Ogilvy is currently tied for -- you guessed it -- 30th in the tournament, which would probably not earn him a ticket to Atlanta. -- Steve Dennis (1:30 p.m. ET)

BIG MOVES: D.J Trahan and Boo Weekley are making big leaps up the leaderboard Saturday morning after each player started the day at 1 over.

Both players started on the back nine and shot 31. Weekley has since birdied the first three holes on his second nine and is now 6 under, just one shot off the lead. Weekley has seven birdies and no bogeys thus far.

Trahan, has two birdies on his second nine and is now 5 under.

Both players came into the BMW Championship outside the top 30 -- Weekley was 31st, Trahan 35th. -- (1:27 p.m. ET)

ROMERO NOW A ROOKIE: Earlier this week, Andres Romero's status on the PGA TOUR was clarified, and he is now considered a rookie for 2008.

Romero-mug.jpg
Romero

The winner of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Romero is currently leading the BMW Championship at 7 under early in the second round.

According to PGA TOUR officials, a player's rookie year is now defined as the year in which he becomes a PGA TOUR member (including Special Temporary Members) and plays in 10 or more events as a member or finishes in the Top 125 as a member on the PGA TOUR money list, whichever occurs first.

The 27-year-old from Argentina played in three PGA TOUR events last year and earned $798,414 -- which would have placed him among the top 125 all-exempt players on the PGA TOUR money list. As a result, he was able to take up TOUR membership for 2008.

And he now becomes a leading candidate for rookie of the year. Romero and Chez Reavie are the only two rookies to win PGA TOUR events this season. -- (1:11 p.m. ET)

FEDEXCUP UPDATE: With Vijay Singh perhaps suffering a hangover from two great victories, Sergio Garcia and Andres Romero are doing their part to try to make a race of it.

FEC100.jpg

Singh is currently tied for 48th, and Garcia is tied for second, which would give him enough points to have some hope of winning the FedExCup at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

Romero, the current tournament leader at 7 under, is the last person in the field who could possibly win the FedExCup, but to do so, he needs to win this week and then again at East Lake -- and hope that Singh doesn't play well.

If the BMW Championship ended now with a Romero victory, then if Romero won again in Atlanta while Singh finished last, Romero would win the Cup by 26 points.

Of course, it's still early in round two at the BMW Championship. -- Steve Dennis (1:03 p.m. ET)

CAMPBELL'S ABSENCE: Chad Campbell withdrew earlier in the day -- his wife is having a baby and apparently the newest Campbell decided today was the day.

As of now, Campbelll is right on the bubble to make THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, but there are 39 people behind him who could have a good final two rounds and knock him out.

My pre-tournament estimate of the "elimination line" for advancing to East Lake was 102,800, and as of right now, that number still holds -- Campbell is just inside the line at 102,812, and Bubba Watson is just outside, at 102,768 (projected).

With so many people outside the line, though, there's a chance it will move up through the weekend. -- Steve Dennis (12:50 p.m. ET)

TV INFO: With Saturday's 36-hole marathon of the BMW Championship, there will be plenty of golf on TV.

NBC's coverage will air as scheduled from noon-3 p.m. ET. After a 30-minute break, the BMW Championship will resume on GOLF CHANNEL and will air until the conclusion of play (which is expected to be approximately 8:30 p.m. ET). -- Helen Ross (12:30 p.m. ET)

SCOTT'S BOMB: Not much has gone right for Adam Scott in Saturday's second round. He has three bogeys and two double bogeys and is currently 5 over on his round.

But he did roll in the tournament's longest putt thus far, a 50-foot, 9-inch bomb on the par-4 seventh for birdie.

Scott is not the only player who has dialed long distance on the greens in the second round. Two other players have holed out from 40-plus feet -- Kevin Sutherland from 44 feet, 1 inch on the 12th hole and Tommy Armour III from 40 feet, 10 inches at the 16th. -- (12:20 p.m. ET)

ROMERO ROLLING: Andres Romero has grabbed the lead after a birdie on the 178-yard par-3 third hole in which his tee shot landed 2-1/2 feet from the pin.

Romero is now at 6 under for the tournament, one shot ahead of Stuart Appleby, Steve Stricker and first-round leader Camilo Villegas. -- (11:58 a.m. ET)

ACES AT BMW CHAMPIONSHIP: Sergio Garcia's ace was the 38th struck in tournament history and the first since 2004. -- (11:45 a.m. ET)

Editor's note: This list has been updated with Bart Bryant's ace in the third round -- (5 p.m. ET)

SERGIO'S ACE: Sergio Garcia created some fireworks early when he made a hole-in-one on No. 3 to move within a shot of the lead held by Camilo Villegas. Garcia used a 5-iron on the 204-yard par 3. It's Garcia's first hole-in-one on the PGA TOUR, and the 21st ace recorded on TOUR this year. -- Helen Ross (11:10 a.m. ET)

CAMPBELL WITHDRAWS: Chad Campbell withdrew from the BMW Championship Saturday morning after his wife Amy started contractions. It will be their first child. (For more on this story, click here.)

Campbell show a 3-over 73 in Friday's first round. With his withdrawal, the field is now down to 68 players. -- (11 a.m. ET)

WEATHER UPDATE: After a one-hour, 31-minute delay due to foggy conditions, the players are back on the course. Should be no problems with the weather the rest of the day. In fact, the sun is actually out today at Bellerive. -- (10:45 a.m. ET)
