As the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup continue, the pressure mounts again. PGATOUR.COM takes a look at what the 69 players in the field have to gain.

Field Study: BMW Championship
Players are organized by current FedExCup ranking
Rk. This Week Rk. Last Week Player BMW Starts Best finish/year Comment
1 Vijay Singh 13 2nd (1998) Hard to bet against the supremely confident Fijian but everyone starts this week on a more level playing field at a new course in Bellerive
2 Sergio Garcia 1 9th (2007) He's been ohsoclose in each of the first two Playoff events -- will the third time be the charm?
18 Mike Weir 9 2nd (1999) Top--10s in each of the first two Playoff events make the Canadian a threat but Bellerive's length could be a challenge
5 Justin Leonard 10 T2 (1995) He's been quietly hanging around the top of the FedExCup standings for months now so he's definitely playing well
10 Jim Furyk 12 1st (2005) He's a former winner but the tournament had a different name then and was played at a different course
3 Kevin Sutherland 11 T7 (2001) He made his big move into the top 10 with that Playoff loss at The Barclays
6 Anthony Kim 1 T52 (2007) Well--positioned after two rounds last week, he lost ground when he didn't break par after the cut was made
4 Phil Mickelson 10 T26 (1996) He never had luck at Cog Hill so maybe Bellerive will be more to his liking
7 Kenny Perry 12 T12 (2006) Perry's looking ahead to the Ryder Cup in his native Kentucky judging by ties for 48th and 80th in the first two Playoff events
8 Ben Curtis 4 3rd (2005) With three top--10s in his last five starts, the young man from Ohio could be a factor
9 Stewart Cink 3 T4 (2006) Still looking to regain the form that saw him post seven top--10s, including a win at Hartford, in his first 15 starts this year
11 K.J. Choi 8 T30 (2006) He hasn't had a top--10 since February, but Choi has finished 21st or better in four of his last five starts
16 Steve Stricker 14 1st (1996) He should get a boost in confidence after Paul Azinger tabbed him for the Ryder Cup
21 Chad Campbell 5 T8 (2003) That tie for seventh at the Deutsche Bank Championship helped him move in forward in two Cups
14 Carl Pettersson 5 T4 (2006) The Wyndham Championship winner was on the leaderboard briefly Monday but couldn't sustain the momentum
12 Robert Allenby 9 1st (2000) He's made 22 straight cuts but his last of seven top--10s came at the Open Championship
13 Stuart Appleby 12 T5 (2002, 2004) Another consistent year with top--20s in three of his last four starts
28 Ken Duke 2 T52 (2007) He's tied for 12th and 10th in the first two Playoff events so he could be a player to watch
52 Ernie Els 2 T18 (2007) That tie for third Monday at the Deutsche Bank Championship was key -- propelling the South African into the top 30
25 Hunter Mahan 5 T21 (2005) Safely on the Ryder Cup team now, he's been one round away from a really good finish
19 Trevor Immelman 2 1st (2006) The reigning Masters champ has only broken 70 once in two Playoff events
27 Briny Baird 6 T20 (2002) He's climbed seven spots in the last two weeks to assure himself of a spot in the field at East Lake
31 Ryuji Imada 1 T25 (2007) His tie for 13th at TPC Boston was well-timed -- moving him eight spots into the top 30
22 Andres Romero 0 N/A The Zurich Classic champ showed signs of life in a tie for seventh at the PGA but hasn't finished higher than 55th in the Playoffs
68 Camilo Villegas 4 T7 (2007) Last year's big Playoff mover has assured himself of a TOUR Championship berth again after last week's tie for third
29 Billy Mayfair 16 1st (1995) He may be the last man who comes to St. Louis assured of advancing to the last Playoff event
30 Bubba Watson 2 T18 (2007) He's climbed 29 spots in the last two weeks but needs to play well to stay in the top 30
40 Tim Clark 4 T3 (2006) He couldn't keep pace after threatening to shoot 59 last Saturday and Bellerive could be a test at 7,386 yards
35 Brandt Snedeker 2 T14 (2007) He'll need to finish 23rd or better to maintain his spot in the field for the final Playoff event
32 Geoff Ogilvy 6 T5 (2004) He's on the bubble this week after plunging 22 spots when he missed the cut at The Barclays
38 Boo Weekley 1 T57 (2007) A missed cut in the first Playoff event was costly -- now he needs to finish 20th or above to advance
37 Kevin Streelman 1 MC (2003) Can this Cinderfella story continue and end in Rookie of the Year honors?
41 John Senden 6 T20 (2002) He's moved 30 spots in two weeks -- but things tighten here with a no-cut field
42 D.J. Trahan 2 T16 (2005) He'll need to put that final--round 80 at TPC Boston on Monday behind him if he is to advance
17 J.B. Holmes 0 (N/A) When he missed the cut at the Deutsche Bank Championship he fell 19 spots, but Paul Azinger's call was a nice consolation
61 Steve Marino 0 (N/A) He basically broke even in the first two Playoff events -- falling 23 spots in the first one and climbing 24 last week
44 John Merrick 0 (N/A) He only played in one Playoff event last year and now he's a top--10 away from possibly making all four
43 Charlie Wi 1 MC (2005) July and August have been good to him with two top--10s in six events, including at the PGA Championship
20 Nicholas Thompson 1 MC (2006) Missing the cut at the TPC Boston has left him needed to finish among the top nine to advance
45 Dean Wilson 4 T67 (2003) He started the Playoffs ranked 70th and never looked back, but he has to finish seventh or higher to get to Atlanta
49 Mark Wilson 6 T25 (2007) He's currently ranked exactly where he ended the season last year
47 Adam Scott 2 4th (2007) The winner of the 2006 TOUR Championship is in danger of missing the tournament unless he can finish seventh or better at Bellerive
23 Padraig Harrington 0 N/A Two missed cuts dropped the winner of the last two majors down 40 spots and place him in danger of missing the Playoff finale
24 Jerry Kelly 13 1st (2002) Last week's missed cut dropped him 21 spots and out of the top 30
53 Scott Verplank 20 1st (1995) The veteran's back is against the wall, and the move to lengthy Bellerive doesn't bode well
26 Mathew Goggin 4 T2 (2006) After a 50--spot climb into the top 30 with a tie for fourth at The Barclays, the Aussie took a tumble with last week's missed cut
99 Tim Herron 8 T10 (2005) He's played his way into each of the last two events but he needs a top--five to make the final Playoff event
57 Jonathan Byrd 7 T10 (2007) He's been steady during the Playoffs but he'll need a top--five to avoid elimination
54 Stephen Ames 9 1st (2004) He's only broken 70 twice in his last 22 rounds
55 Brian Davis 1 T21 (2006) This is the deepest he's been in the Playoffs after climbing 35 spots in the last two weeks
59 Woody Austin 12 T10 (1995) Those two 66s last week marked the only time he's broken 70 since the John Deere Classic
56 Bart Bryant 3 T7 (2004) He didn't make the field for the BMW Championship last year and he needs to finish fourth or better to advance this week
60 Chez Reavie 0 N/A The rookie who won the RBC Canadian Open has fallen a net of 19 spots in the first two Playoff events
78 Johnson Wagner 0 N/A A tie for 15th at TPC Boston landed Wagner, who didn't make it past The Barclays last year, in the third Playoff event
79 Heath Slocum 6 T7 (2005) He climbed 23 spots last week with the tie for 15th and earned a ticket to St. Louis
92 Ben Crane 2 86 (2002) Only Herron and Villegas made a bigger move last week as Crane tied for 10th at TPC Boston
63 Brian Gay 8 T15 (2001) He needs to regain the momentum he had early at the TPC Boston with those matching 68s in the first two rounds
62 John Mallinger 1 T30 (2007) Even after jumping 33 spots in the last two weeks, he must finish third or better to advance
65 Jay Williamson 4 T41 (2000) This is the feel-good story of the week he's a Bellerive member, and he played his way into the field last week
67 Martin Laird 0 N/A His string of top-10 finishes ended last week, but the rookie still played his way into a third straight Playoff event
69 Lucas Glover 4 T14 (2007) He's moved up 33 spots in the Playoffs, but he needs to finish third or better to advance to East Lake
72 Eric Axley 1 T82 (2006) He missed the Playoffs by one spot last year now he needs third or better at Bellerive to get in all four
73 Aaron Baddeley 5 2nd (2007) He fell 28 spots when he missed the cut in the first Playoff event to put himself behind the eight-ball
74 Fredrik Jacobson 3 T8 (2003) His best finish in two Playoff events is a tie for 67th, so he's dropped a net of 19 spots
77 Charley Hoffman 2 T21 (2006) He's moved up 39 spots in the first two Playoff events, but he'll need to finish third or better to advance
33 Dudley Hart 14 T3 (1998) He tied for 12th at The Barclays to jump to 33rd, but a missed cut last week negated that positive move
34 Rory Sabbatini 5 T5 (2001) He finished fourth in the FedExCup last year, but he needs to finish third or better this week to advance to the final event
75 Tommy Armour III 16 T13 (1999) After three top 10s in four starts, he hasn't finished better than 72nd in the last four
93 Angel Cabrera 1 T30 (2007) He's moved up 61 spots in two weeks thanks to ties for 19th and 15th, but he must finish no worse than third to avoid elimination
