Seersucker Sunday: Show your stripes for St. Jude

If it's good enough for the Masters, it's good enough for the Stanford St. Jude Championship. No, we're not talking the great play Trevor Immelman has displayed this week; we're talking a champions' jacket.

For the first time in this tournament's 54-year history, the winner will not only take home a trophy, he will also become the proud new owner of a seersucker winners' coat courtesy of the classy gentleman's clothier, Brooks Brothers.

Fitting of the tournament's southern home of Memphis, Tenn., the blue-and-white striped jacket will bring a little tradition and style to the event, and its custom-designed look will set it apart from the six other winners' jackets on TOUR. The champion's name will be embroidered into the lining for an added special touch.

"We are honored to bring the tradition and heritage of the Brooks Brothers brand to this historic tournament -- in what we hope will become a unique tradition of its own," said Claudio Del Vecchio, chairman and CEO of Brooks Brothers.

To celebrate the introduction of the latest menswear on the PGA TOUR, Brooks Brothers is partnering with the Stanford St. Jude Championship to bring "Seersucker Sunday" to the event. Fans -- and players -- are invited to join in the new tradition and wear seersucker to "show their stripes" for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

"Whether it is a shirt, pants, hat or even a ribbon, wearing seersucker on Sunday is a way for our fans to become more connected to the tournament and a way for all of us to demonstrate our support of St. Jude - the most important element of this event," said Wes Kraker, general chairman of the Stanford St. Jude Championship board and president of Children's Champions for Hope, Inc.

Brooks Brothers also unveiled a commemorative polo shirt, which will benefit St. Jude through the Eagles for St. Jude program and be sold in its stores and onsite at the tournament. The commitment from Brooks Brothers is being made in collaboration with its Golden Fleece Foundation.
