Editor's note: PGATOUR.COM has tried to make our experts work a little harder when they make their picks each week. The favorite can be anyone in the field, although Tiger Woods can only be used seven times during the year. Sleepers can't have won in 2008 or had a top-10 in their last five starts. A sleeper can't be ranked in the top 30 in the field, either.

Pick: Phil Mickelson
With the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines right around the corner, could Lefty have picked a better time to bust out and start playing his best? His win at Colonial last week, especially with a made birdie putt on the 72nd hole, should be a confidence boost. And that's exactly what Mickelson will need at Muirfield Village in the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley this week -- a place where he missed the cut last year and his best finish in nine starts was a tie for fourth in 2006. Fortunately for Mickelson, Tiger Woods (knee rehab) and Vijay Singh (rib injury) have decided not to play this week.

Pick: Kenny Perry
Is there anyone hotter than Kenny Perry on the TOUR right now? Plus, if you factor in that he's a two-time winner at the Memorial and he tied for third there last year, Perry is the perfect pick. Barring a bout of exhaustion after his tie for 15th at THE PLAYERS Championship and his runner-up finish at the AT&T Classic, Perry will be in contention again this week.

Pick: Phil Mickelson
Working his way to Torrey. Pulled one out of the trees last week with one of the all-time Mickelshots. He's in a groove, so what will Phil do next? Figure he's already mixing up the lineup in his golf bag -- how many drivers? How many wedges? Mickelson has some top-10s here over his career, but scheduling has usually kept him away. Don't count him out this week.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. He has a respectable record on this track, and his season has been fantastic. A victory is the only thing that is missing.

Pick: Jim Furyk
After last Sunday, it would be hard not to pick Phil Mickelson this week. He has always been a streaky player, but when his putter is working, he is unbeatable. He was perfect inside five feet last week and didn't miss a putt inside 10 feet on Sunday. For some reason, Phil tends to play his best golf when he is looking forward to something. There is a pretty big tournament in his backyard in a couple of weeks, and you know Phil would love to waltz into the U.S. Open having won in consecutive weeks.

Pick: Jim Furyk
The 2002 Memorial Champion missed the cut at last week's Colonial, but in 12 starts at Muirfield Village, he's banked four top-10 finishes and has never missed the weekend. Furyk is due a victory, having recorded at least one every year for the last three years. He has four top-10s this season, but the seventh-ranked player in the world is ready to step it up. He could make a big statement after last week's missed cut with a win.

He's a horse for the course -- 10 straight cuts made here, four finishes in the top 10 -- and sooner or later his outstanding 2008 play has to be rewarded with a trophy grab. Right?

Pick: Phil Mickelson
Hey, I was convinced on Sunday. Admittedly, I am a week behind, but I still feel now is not the time to pick against Phil Mickelson. Prior to withdrawing last year with that bum wrist, Lefty had three top-11 finishes at Muirfield Village. His calculated preparation for the U.S. Open is clearly paying dividends.

With Vijay Singh having pulled out because of injury, we have to go with our 1A selection, which, of course, isn't really settling when it's the No. 2 player in the world coming off a victory last week at Colonial. Lefty knows how to string good starts together. He also has a little unfinished business at Muirfield Village.

Pick: Jeff Quinney
I just get the feeling that this is Quinney's week. He's 12th in FedExCup standings, and is poised on the doorstep of victory after a runner-up to Mickelson at Riviera and missing the playoff at THE PLAYERS by one shot. An exceptional putter, he ranks third in total birdies. I feel a W for Q.
