FedExCup Notes: Round 4, Shell Houston Open

Wagner has the opportunity to jump 170 spots if he can maintain his lead this week at the Shell Houston Open (188th to 18th).

At this same time last year, (entering Shell Houston Open), Wagner had 1,163 points ranking 88th on the points list. His strong tie for ninth finish gave him 625 points and moved up 31 spots to 57th.

Wagner would have 4,679 points with a win this week. This would double his total regular season points from 2007 (2,317--127th).

Player: Chad Campbell

Campbell has been consistent is his nine events played thus far in 2008. He's carded one top 10 and five top 25 finishes earning 2,275 points.

If Campbell can maintain his current position or win, he would vault inside the top 15 on the points list.

Not enough can be said for Campbell's consistent performance in the past two seasons. Last year, entering week 14 of the regular season, Campbell ranked 46th on the points list with 1,892 points (only a two-position difference between last year and this year at the same time).

Bob Estes is in need of a strong finish this week at the Shell Houston Open. His 8-under 64 in Saturday's third round has him in great position to vault up the points list.

If Bob finishes tied for third or better today, he'll jump 98 spots up the list to 75th or better.

Player: Charley Hoffman

Hoffman got off to good start making the first three cuts of the season earning all of his current 1,048 points. He needs a strong finish this week as he has missed seven cuts in his last seven events played.

In order for Hoffman to move inside the top 30 on the points list, he'll need to pull out a win this week. If he maintains his current position on the leaderboard (tie for third) he'll move up 50 spots from 100th to 50th.

Player: Geoff Ogilvy

Coming off a win at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship, Ogilvy finds himself in contention entering the final round yet again this year. If Ogivly finishes inside the top five today, he'll move inside the top 10 on the points list.

Similar to Campbell, Ogilvy's consistency on the course over the past two years has paid dividends. Last year, entering week 14 of the regular season, Ogilvy ranked ninth on the points list with 5,772 points (only a one position difference between last year and this year at the same time).

Off to a good start in 2008 with two top-15 finishes at The Honda Classic (tie for seventh) and the PODS Championship (tie for 14th), Goggin is in great shape to continue his climb up the points list.

Goggin will need to pull out a win today in order to move inside of the top 30 on the points list.

Despite finishing the 2007 regular season points race in the 12th spot, Stricker is already well ahead of his 2007 season pace. Entering week 14 last year, he ranked 42nd on the points list while this year he's already inside of the top 10 (seventh).

Currently 136th on the points list, Quigley is looking for a strong finish this week to move up the rankings.

If Brett were to pull out a win today, he would move up over 100 spots right inside the top 30.

At this time last year, Glover had carded three top-25 finishes totaling 2,340 points ranking 40th in the points race. He's in need of a strong finish this week as he currently ranks 137th on the points list. If he maintains his current tied for seventh position or better, he'll move inside the top 100 on the points list.
