Pick: Pat Perez
I just love watching this guy play. He's gotten much better about playing with his emotions on his sleeve, but he's intense. Intensity, to me, equals someone who cares. I'm not saying Perez cares more about winning than his fellow competitors. What I am saying is that he's just too good not to have won yet. After a tie for 12th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, he's clearly swinging it well. Don't be surprised if he sneaks up on the field in Houston.

Pick: Chad Campbell
Campbell hails from Texas and should make a Texas-sized showing this week at the Shell Houston Open. He's logged five top-25 finishes in nine events this season. Campbell, a four-time PGA TOUR winner, won late last year at the Viking Classic to add to his trophy collection and could add another this week.

Pick: Davis Love III
We're still pulling for the story. And the streak. He's stepping out of his comfort zone -- hasn't played this course and hasn't played at the SHO since 1992. But New Orleans happened in '95. We're thinking Harvey's hand might tap another shoulder

Pick: Johnson Wagner
Faltered in the final round last year when in contention for the first time in his rookie season. Had a final-round 69 at Zurich, his best of the week. Perhaps he's working his way into doing something special.

Pick: David Love III
Davis Love III has been in this position before -- needing a win to get into the Masters. The last time was more than a decade ago, and he won at New Orleans to punch his ticket to Augusta National. He will make a push again this year in Houston. He hasn't missed a major championship in nearly 18 years. There is probably no one in the field with more to play for this week than Davis.

Pick: Dudley Hart
With his T12 finish in last week's Zurich Classic, Dudley Hart received Major Medical Extension status for the remainder of the 2008 season. He had 15 starts to earn $485,931. He did it in six. So with the pressure off to keep his card, Hart enters this week's field in Houston on a high. He's played well this season, currently ranking 50th in the FedEx Cup standings from a T-3 finish at Pebble Beach, and two top-15s. He's made the cut in his three most recent starts at the Shell Houston Open, including a tie for fourth in 2004.

Pick: Anthony Kim
To be blunt, he's overdue - we haven't seen a decent result from Kim since the sparkling third-place finish he opened the season with. But this is a layout he knows his way around - the long-bombing Kim finished tied for fifth in Houston in 2007 - so let's see if we can dial up a wakeup call to the talented youngster.

Pick: Trevor Immelman
Still trying to find his form after medical struggles in the offseason. The South African, who finished tied for 11th at Redstone two years ago, still is looking for his first top 20 of the year, let alone a victory. Maybe he'll get untracked in Texas.

The talented young Hawaiian is quietly playing well this year. He's coming off a tie for 12th last Sunday at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and he has two other finishes among the top 14 in seven starts.
