Seventy years ago, the PGA TOUR visited the City of New Orleans for the first time with future World Golf Hall of Famer "Lighthorse" Harry Cooper winning the title at City Park GC. The PGA TOUR returns to the Crescent City next week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, now played at the TPC Louisiana in suburban Avondale.

Since joining the TOUR in 1938, the New Orleans stop has seen a host of great champions 14 future Hall of Famers to be exact. Among them are Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Billy Casper, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson, Seve Ballesteros, Ben Crenshaw and Vijay Singh.

When Trevino won in 1974, he did so without making a bogey. He's the last player to win a PGA TOUR event without recording a single bogey in the tournament.

Past winners of the tournament have come from all over the world as well. Zurich Classic of New Orleans winners have hailed from nine different countries since that first event in 1938. Taking home the title in New Orleans over the years have been players from the U.S., Canada, Spain, South Africa, Wales, England, Paraguay, South Korea and Fiji.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the 11th oldest event on the PGA TOUR. Here are the 10 that have been around longer:
