A crop of Australasia's most talented young professionals will begin their dreams of making it to the PGA TOUR when they tee up for the inaugural Moonah Classic to be held at Moonah Links from Feb. 21 -24.
The Moonah Classic is the second of the Down Under swing of Nationwide Tour co-sanctioned events for 2008 following the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship and will also feature proven stars Peter O'Malley, Steven Bowditch, Paul Gow, Paul Sheehan and Greg Chalmers who have won on the Nationwide and Australasian Tours up against the best of the USA.
"The Moonah Classic promises to be a great event, with the strength and depth of the field providing a great advertisement for Australian golf," said PGA Tour of Australasia Commissioner Ben Sellenger. "Our players have enjoyed enormous success on the Nationwide Tour, and it is fantastic that they have the opportunity to compete on home soil against the U.S. players and potentially launch their career onto the PGA TOUR.
"Coupled with the fact that the prize money is one of the largest offered on the 2008 Nationwide Tour schedule, the Moonah Classic is a great opportunity for Australasian players to get a head start for the season."
