Utah Championship names Zions Bank as Presenting Sponsor

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Utah's only official PGA TOUR event, a stop on the Nationwide Tour in September, Friday announced Zions Bank as the tournament's presenting sponsor. The Utah Championship Presented by Zions Bank will be played September 1-7, 2008 at Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy.

"Zions Bank is proud to be associated with the Utah Championship as the presenting sponsor," said Zions Bank CEO Scott Anderson. "The Utah Championship and Zions Bank are a perfect match -- the tournament is great for golf fans, and it's a positive event for the community and the charities who benefit so greatly from it."

The Utah Sports Commission, which hosts the annual tournament, emphasized the importance of having strong support from local sponsors in order to keep the tournament viable.

"As the only official PGA TOUR event in Utah, the tournament is a tremendous asset to our state," said Utah Sports Commission president and CEO Jeff Robbins. "Thanks to sponsors like Zions Bank, the event, and all the great benefits the Nationwide Tour offers our community, has become a mainstay in our state."

Now in its 10th year, the Utah Championship Presented by Zions Bank continues to grow, attracting many of the Nationwide Tour's brightest players. Past champions include current PGA TOUR stars like Brett Wetterich and Aaron Oberholser. Past champions Zach Johnson and John Daly have both gone on to win Major Championships following their victories in Utah.
