Daniel Chopra would like nothing better than to start 2009 the way he did the previous year -- with a win at the Mercedes-Benz Championship. The Swede closed with a 66 at Kapalua and then outlasted Steve Stricker with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole.
That victory was Chopra's second in his last three starts dating back to 2007. Turns out, though, he wouldn't have another top-10 in 2008 -- and the $1.1 million he won accounted for the bulk of his seven-figure salary.
The end of 2008 was as frustrating as the start was affirming. After top-20s at the Buick Open and World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, Chopra missed six cuts in his final seven starts. -- Helen Ross
