After saving the best for last, Camilo Villegas has got to be looking forward to the future. His first two PGA TOUR wins -- as well as a second-place finish in the FedExCup -- have elevated the young Colombian's profile and increased expectations for 2009.
The methodical Villegas made steady progress in his first two years on TOUR, and that growth paid dividends in a big way as the 2008 season wound to a conclusion. First, there was that tie for fourth at the PGA Championship, his fourth top-10 of the year.
A missed cut at The Barclays was only a momentary setback as Villegas tied for third at the Deutsche Bank Championship and then won the final two Playoff events. More than $7 million -- his earnings and the FedExCup bonus combined -- made for a very happy holiday season.
