Check out the blog on his personal website and Andres Romero will tell you how much he's looking forward to starting the 2009 campaign in Hawaii. Not only is the 50th state a beautiful place to visit, that berth in the Mercedes-Benz Championship signaled success in his rookie year.
Romero fired a 68 in the final round at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last year to claim his first PGA TOUR title. Threatening weather on Saturday forced a suspension of play and Romero returned Sunday morning to complete a round of 65. He closed with a 68, then had to wait nearly two hours to see if it would be good enough to win.
Romero, who is the fourth Argentine to win on TOUR, also showed that third place in the 2007 Open Championship was no fluke when he tied for eighth at the Masters and seventh at the PGA. He finished 28th in the FedExCup and 36th on the money list with more than $2 million.
