Chad Campbell didn't win a tournament last year. But his Sunday Ryder Cup Singles victory over Padraig Harrington, who had won the last two majors, has to give him a boost entering the 2009 season.
Campbell was a Captain's Pick for his third straight Ryder Cup team and he posted a 2-1-0 mark for the victorious Americans. A month later, the 32-year-old Texan finished off his season with a tie for third at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open, shooting four rounds in the 60s.
His performance in Las Vegas was one of seven top-10s in a remarkably consistent season and one of a trio among the top three. Campbell also tied for second at the Shell Houston Open, rebounding from an opening 73 with rounds of 64 and 65 to surge into contention and eventually finishing two strokes behind Johnson Wagner.
