The way he's playing, Justin Leonard would have confidence anywhere he plays in 2009. He'll be particularly excited, though, when he goes to TPC Southwind in June.
After all, he's the defending champion of the Stanford St. Jude Championship, and he's won the tournament twice in the last four years. His 2008 win was particularly hard-fought as the Texan rolled in a 19-footer for birdie on the second playoff hole to beat Masters champion Trevor Immelman and Robert Allenby.
Leonard, who earned more than $3.9 million, closed out his season with a string of top-20 finishes in the four events of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup and the Valero Texas Open. He was eighth in the FedExCup, 10th on the money list and played on the victorious Ryder Cup team.
