One of Trevor Immelman's more pleasant tasks in 2009 will be picking the menu for the annual Champions Dinner at the Masters. The talented young South African beat Tiger Woods by three strokes at Augusta National last year, despite a closing round of 75.
Immelman's victory was all the more impressive considering that four months earlier he had emergency surgery for what turned out to be a benign growth behind his ribcage. The Masters marked just his ninth start of the season.
Immelman nearly picked up a second victory at the Stanford St. Jude Championship, where he was beaten by Justin Leonard in a playoff. He ranked 16th in the FedExCup and ended his year with ties for 13th and 10th in the final two Playoff events.
