TOURNAMENT RECAP: Although his first-round 72 was the second highest by a winner in PLAYERS history, Tiger Woods soon redeemed himself and scored a one-stroke victory over Vijay Singh. Despite making an eagle from the rough on the 16th hole and sinking a short birdie putt on No. 17, Singh's late push came up short as he ran out of holes. Woods holed a 60-foot putt from the fringe on the 17th hole in the third round and then saved par on the island hole Sunday after his tee shot had stopped at the water's edge.
