TOURNAMENT RECAP: Greg Norman smashed the records for the lowest 18-, 54- and 72-hole scores. After opening with a course-record-tying 63, he followed with three 67s to give him a 24-under 264 total -- six strokes better than any previous winner. The charismatic Australian had only one bogey in 72 holes and, in his final round, put his tee shot on No. 17 to within 2 feet for birdie. Fuzzy Zoeller, whose second-place score of 20-under 268 would have won any of the previous 20 PLAYERS, commented: "That's the best I've ever played and had absolutely no chance of winning."
