Naval Special Warfare Foundation: Our Mission

Our mission was not created by war, but it has been made more important and more difficult as a result of it. Our focus is on family and the special Navy SEAL community that makes up Naval Special Warfare. Since our inception, the goal has been to provide educational and motivational support, promote health and welfare programs and perpetuate the history and heritage of U.S. Naval Commandos. Our Foundation is strong, our leadership is dedicated and our mission is noble.

The Naval Special Warfare Foundation was incorporated in 2000 as a National Non-Profit Charitable Corporation. It was established to honor all who have served in the sea commando services including the Navy SEALs and perpetuates their heritage, values, and traditions. The Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Foundation provides program support under the three pillars of the mission:

Education and Motivation
• Scholarship programs
• Provide computers to the children of NSW warriors killed in combat or training
• Support for the college education of children whose Special Operations Forces fathers were killed in combat or training
• Provide tuition assistance to active duty NSW personnel to defray the cost of books and supplies

Health and Welfare
• Supporting families of the SEALs killed in the War on Terror
• Dental coverage for surviving spouses and children of NSW personnel (SEALs) killed in combat or training
• Support NSW Commands with command events, conferences, etc.
• Covering lodging expenses, airfare, memorial receptions costs for those killed in combat or training
• Assist active duty commands with expenses connected with the death of a NSW operator that is not combat/training related
• Sponsor active duty family events: Children's Christmas parties; NSW Campout; Easter egg roll; NSW Kid's Sports Day, etc.
• Supporting NSW families in special case disasters, for example Hurricane Katrina, and San Diego fire victims
• Holiday help for needy families
• Support NSW families with special needs

History and Heritage
• Co-publish a quarterly magazine, "The BLAST , Journal of Naval Special Warfare"
• NSW Plaque at the Navy Memorial in Washington, DC
• Monuments honoring Naval Commandos at Veterans Memorial Parks
• Original Art Program -- "Rock Portage" and "Hunting Al Qaeda"
• Bricks laid at the Tidewater Veteran's Memorial for the SEALs killed since 9-11
• SEAL display at San Diego Veterans Museum and Memorial Center
• Historical database for all SEALs
