PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The PGA TOUR Tuesday announced the Fall Series schedule for 2009, which will finalize the top 125 on the money list and playing priorities for the 2010 season.
The Fall Series will begin the week after the conclusion of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup with the Turning Stone Resort Championship in Vernon, N.Y. (Sept. 28-Oct. 4), which is offering the largest purse of the fall with $6 million. Following a week off for The Presidents Cup, the Fall Series will continue with the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas (Oct. 12-18), the Frys.com Open in Scottsdale (Oct. 19-25) and the Viking Classic in Madison, Miss. (Oct. 26-Nov. 1).
The Fall Series will conclude with the Children's Miracle Network Classic at Walt Disney World, Fla. (Nov. 9-15). The tournament to be played in the week prior to the Children's Miracle Network Classic (Nov. 2-8) will be announced at a later time.
With the move of the Valero Texas Open from the second week of October to May beginning in 2009, the decision was made not to replace it in the schedule, which allows for an open week between the third and fourth Playoff events, the BMW Championship and THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. In addition to the Valero Texas Open's move, the Ginn sur Mer Classic in Palm Coast, Fla., will not return as a Fall Series event.
"We are working on a couple of options for the week of Nov. 2-8, and will announce that week as soon as it is finalized," PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem said. "Once again, we believe we have a very strong lineup of fall tournaments for our fans, sponsors and players."
