With no sponsor, LPGA won't visit Tulsa in 2009

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) -- The LPGA Tour will not be visiting Tulsa in 2009 for the first time in eight years after it was unable to find a replacement for bankrupt title sponsor SemGroup.

The LPGA has played in the Tulsa area since 2001, when the tournament was sponsored by the energy company Williams and held at the Tulsa Country Club. It moved to Cedar Ridge Country Club in suburban Broken Arrow in 2004 and was sponsored by hotelier John Q. Hammons for three years before SemGroup, another energy company, took over as the title sponsor in 2007.

Tournament management company Octagon hopes to bring a pro-am or another special event featuring LPGA players to keep a tour presence in the Tulsa area this year.
