verplank.split.jpg

Scott Verplank, Steve Marino, Davis Love III
Tee time:
11 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 24
Why you should watch: This is a wonderful final threesome. Verplank is looking to finish some unfinished business at Disney, where he's been close to winning several times. Marino is looking for his first PGA TOUR victory. Love, who starts the final round two shots behind both Verplank and Marino, is looking for something even greater. A win on Sunday would give Love 20 career PGA TOUR victories, which would mean a lifetime exemption on TOUR, meaning he would never have to worry about finishing in the top 125 on the money list again.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Verplank 23 17 -- -- -- 2 7 71.04
Marino 31 26 -- 1 1 5 12 70.40
Love 22 15 -- -- 1 2 6 71.50
sterling.split.jpg

Scott Sterling, Tommy Gainey, Robert Garrigus
Tee time:
10:50 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 0
Why you should watch: Just because no one in the threesome has won an event on TOUR yet doesn't mean they should be overlooked on Sunday. Sure, there are two veteran legends that will be teeing off right behind them in Verplank and Love, but at a course like Magnolia, birdies can be made in bunches. If any of these three can get on a roll early and try to forget about the guys playing behind them, one of them might just sneak away with his first TOUR win.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Sterling 27 16 -- -- -- 1 3 71.08
Gainey 23 5 -- -- -- -- -- 72.38

duke.split.jpg

Ken Duke, Jason Gore, Kevin Streelman
Tee time:
10:30 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 1
Why you should watch: Jason Gore is the sole TOUR winner among this trio, but Duke and Streelman have come darn close, especially in 2008. All three have some ground to make up if they're going to track down the leaders, but again, it's very possible to do on the Magnolia course. Gore, specifically, is going to need an outstanding day to lock up his TOUR card for 2008. He currently sits at No. 136 and today is his last chance. Duke and Streelman on the other hand, are probably already planning their respective TOUR schedules for 2009. Both are hoping that after today, that '09 schedule starts in Maui.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Duke 32 23 -- 2 -- 5 12 70.67
Gore 32 16 -- -- -- 3 7 71.14
Streelman 31 23 -- -- -- 3 7 70.75
