Tommy Armour III, Rich Beem, J.P. Hayes
Tee time:
10:02 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 7
Why you should watch: Beem needs a couple of good checks to secure his PGA TOUR card for 2009, and he couldn't have asked for a better draw in the first round at Grayhawk. The Beemer shot 65 to open this tournament last year but failed to break 70 the rest of the week, and he has got to feel the pressure heading into Round 1. He will be playing with J.P. Hayes, his oldest friend on TOUR. Hayes comes into Grayhawk having made only six cuts in 2008, but he and Beem go way back, so expect some fireworks from these two graduates of El Paso Country Club.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Armour 23 14 -- 1 1 5 7 70.94

Chris Stroud, Justin Bolli, Ron Whitaker
Tee time:
10:24 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 0
Why you should watch: Stroud must bounce back from last week's disappointment in Las Vegas, when he shot 74 in the final round last week in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Stroud has banked $315,279 in his sophomore season on TOUR and will need a big check this week to avoid a return trip to q-school.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Stroud 26 9 -- -- -- 1 3 71.96
Bolli 25 14 -- -- -- 1 2 72.06

Jin Park, Kyle Thompson, Tommy Gainey
Tee time:
10:35 a.m.
Tee: No. 10
Total TOUR wins: 0
Why you should watch: This is the week Park has been waiting for all year. Park lives at Grayhawk and is banking on his local knowledge to help turn around the negative tide that has affected his rookie season on TOUR. Park has yet to make a cut in the Fall Series, but this former Arizona State product has plenty of game. He will be paired with two more rookies, Kyle Thompson and Tommy Gainey, and all three need a big week to keep their cards.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Park 27 13 -- -- -- -- 1 72.08
Thompson 23 8 -- -- -- -- 1 72.32
Gainey 21 4 -- -- -- -- -- 72.46
