Chris Stroud, Marc Turnesa, Jimmy Walker
Tee time:
11:25 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 0
Why you should watch: After losing in a playoff at the Viking Classic several weeks ago -- he led for three rounds, no less -- Turnesa is hungry for a win on the PGA TOUR and is in prime position again at the top of the leaderboard, to say nothing of a spot in the top 125 on the money list. A first-round 62 is a good place to start. Stroud also finds himself in contention for all those things after a first-round 65.

Zach Johnson, Tim Herron, Kirk Triplett
Tee time:
3:08 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 11
Why you should watch: Well, it's likely safe to say that Zach Johnson is officially on a roll. How do we know? Thursday's 62 was Johnson's second such round in his last three. A week ago, he recorded a third-round 62 on his way to a two-stroke victory at the Valero Texas Open over Charlie Wi, Tim Wilkinson and Mark Wilson.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Johnson 22 17 1 0 0 2 6 71.20
Herron 26 18 0 0 0 2 8 70.94
Triplett 6 3 0 0 0 0 0 71.65

Bo Van Pelt, Michael Allen, John Mallinger
Tee time:
3:36 p.m.
Tee: No. 10
Total TOUR wins: 0
Why you should watch: As Craig Dolch wrote in a column last week, Allen enters this week's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open ranked 135th on the PGA TOUR's money list with $607,446 -- about $134,000 behind No. 125 Martin Laird. Allen has four events left in the Fall Series to move into the top 125 and secure his playing privileges through 2009. The Champions Tour is a backup, but he'd have to go through q-school to get there. So, yeah, this week is big. Oh, and Mallinger starts the day two shots back of the lead.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Van Pelt 28 18 0 1 0 1 6 71.08
Allen 24 15 0 0 0 1 3 71.45
Mallinger 26 18 0 0 1 3 6 71.32
