The 36-hole cut at the Valero Texas Open fell at 1-under-par 139 with 75 players advancing to the weekend.

Positive Movers

Pat Perez. After an opening-round 1-over 74, Perez bounced back nicely to the tune of a 6-under 64. That put him at 5-under 135 total and helped him jump from a tie for 89th to a tie for 22nd.

Chad Campbell. The Texan, who helped the U.S. secure its first Ryder Cup win since 1999 just a few weeks back, was almost as impressive as Perez. Also with a 71 in the first round, Perez managed a 5-under 65 on Friday to get to 4 under and catapulted from a tie for 89th to a tie for 30th.

Jeff Maggert. After a 73 on Thursday, Maggert started the second round tied for 111th. With a 5-under 65 in the second round, he moved to 2 under par and will start the weekend tied for 52nd.

Negative Movers

Mathew Goggin. The Aussie had a promising start with a 3-under 67. However, he stumbled with a 3-over 73 on Friday to miss the cut by one shot at even par.

Kent Jones. It was a rough week for Kent. After Thursday's 1-over 71, he couldn't get anything going on Friday. That led to a second-round score of 4-over 74 to put him at 5 over total, to miss the cut by five.

Peter Lonard. The Aussie had a nice start Thursday in San Antonio with an even-par 70, but with a 73 on Friday, he missed the cut by four shots.

On the number

Justin Leonard. If the Texan is going to defend his title and win the Valero Texas Open for the fourth time in his career this weekend, he has his work cut out. Leonard made the cut on the mark with rounds of 70-69.

Jason Gore. The big man had a fine 5-under 65 on Thursday, but struggled to a 4-over 74 on Friday. It was still good enough to make the cut on the number.

Stephen Ames. The Canadian fired a 2-under 68 in the first round, but backed up with a 1-over 71 on Friday to make the cut on the number.

Notable missed cuts

Tommy Armour III. A former winner of the Valero Texas Open, the Texan couldn't seem to find any spark this week. He shot rounds of 71-75 for a 6-over total to miss the cut by seven shots.

Jesper Parnevik. The Swede was in a playoff with Justin Leonard just a year ago, but didn't have the same luck this time around. Parnevik was 3 over after a first-round 73. He played better on Friday with an even-par 70, but it wasn't enough to hang around for the weekend.

Davis Love III. The 1997 PGA Champion started the Valero Texas Open coming off a season-best tie for third at last week's Turning Stone Resort Championship. That momentum didn't carry into San Antonio as Love bowed out of weekend action with rounds of 69-73 for a 2-over total to miss the cut by three.
