Justin Leonard, Brian Gay, Eric Axley
Tee time:
9 a.m.
Tee: No. 10
Total TOUR wins: 14
Why you should watch: No player has made more money playing the Valero Texas Open than Justin Leonard. He's also the defending champion. Think he'll be around all week? More than likely. The last time Brian Gay played in a tournament, he lost in a playoff to Will MacKenzie at the Viking Classic. Axley, on the other hand, broke a string of 10 consecutive cuts made last week at Turning Stone. Will he be able to jump back on the horse?

Leonard 24 23 1 1 0 8 14 70.55

Dustin Johnson, J.J. Henry, Rod Pampling
Tee time:
9:20 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 4
Why you should watch: The big question here is how does Johnson respond to success, as in his first career victory last week at Turning Stone? His confidence has to be sky high, but is it too high? Henry needs a solid week to avoid a trip to q-school in December. He starts the week at 132nd on the money list, needing about $100,000 to get in his happy place. Pampling made his first cut in four events last week at Turning Stone, but left after a third-round 79.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Johnson 27 16 1 0 0 3 5 71.69
Henry 29 15 0 0 0 1 2 71.41
Pampling 25 13 0 1 1 5 9 71.67

Chad Campbell, Zach Johnson, Heath Slocum
Tee time:
1:40 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 9
Why you should watch: Johnson, the 2007 Masters winner, is playing his first event since missing the cut at The Barclays, the opening event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Amazingly -- and mostly due to injury -- Johnson has just one top-10 finish this season. Campbell, a member of the victorious U.S. Ryder Cup team, is coming off a 22nd-place tie at East Lake last month and Slocum is looking for his first top-10 finish since he was fourth at the Travelers Championship back in June.

2008 Stat Comparison

Campbell 26 18 -- 1 1 6 13 70.64
Johnson 21 16 -- -- -- 1 5 71.54
