Jeff Overton, Brian Davis, Tom Pernice Jr.
Tee time: 8:25 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 6
Why you should watch: Overton turned in one of the best rounds of his brief PGA TOUR career on Thursday. His 67 in difficult conditions left him one shot clear of the field, and he did it without a lights-out day on the greens. Overton must shake off the disappointment he experienced at the AT&T National in July, when he opened with rounds of 66-65 only to shoot 71-70 on the weekend to fall into a tie for ninth.

Carlos Franco, Nathan Green, Robert Garrigus
Tee time: 12:45 p.m.
Tee: No. 10
Total TOUR wins: 4
Why you should watch: Franco badly wants to avoid a return trip to q-school, and a win this week would do just that. He is two shots back after a solid 69, but Franco has gotten off to hot starts several times this year only to fall back on the weekend. Four rounds in the 60s will do wonders this week at Turning Stone.

Tom Scherrer, Michael Allen, Jason Day
Tee time: 7:35 a.m.
Tee: No. 10
Total TOUR wins: 0
Why you should watch: Day, who needs a couple of solid finishes to secure his card for 2009, fired a 69 in the first round that would have given him the lead had he not double-bogeyed the par-4 ninth. As usual, Day was hot on the greens (25 putts), and he can make up a lot of ground in bad conditions with that stat.
