K.J. Choi, Mike Weir
Tee time:
1:35 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 15
Why you should watch: Weir is making his first appearance in the THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola since 2004, when he finished tied for fourth. Weir has been a lot like Jim Furyk this year -- a lot of close calls, no wins. Sooner or later, it's going to change. Weir's game seems to have been elevated ever since his Singles victory over Tiger Woods in last year's Presidents Cup, and while his 70 on Thursday was nothing to sneeze at, it does put him in good shape if the course conditions remain tough over the weekend.

Trevor Immelman, Phil Mickelson
Tee time:
1:45 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 35
Why you should watch: The last time Immelman was in Georgia, he won, so his 68 on Thursday wasn't a huge surprise. Except for a tie for second at the Stanford St. Jude Championship, Immelman's game went south after his win in April at The Masters, but the South African made the cut in the first three Playoff events. His tie for 13th at the BMW Championship two weeks ago was his best finish since the runner-up in Memphis.

Ernie Els. Anthony Kim
Tee time:
1:55 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 18
Why you should watch: We didn't know how Anthony Kim was going to do in his first look at East Lake, but it was worth the wait. The PGA TOUR worked to make East Lake play firm and fast, but the windy conditions never bothered Kim, who shot 64 to take a four-shot lead. Under the circumstances, it was arguably the most impressive round of his young career. One gets the feeling that his confidence is snowballing after his thrashing of Sergio Garcia at the Ryder Cup. One of the hardest things to do on the PGA TOUR is following an exceptional round with a decent round. It will be interesting to see if Kim can avoid putting up a 74 in Round 2.

Els 15 10 1 -- 1 4 6 71.57
