HELSINGOER, Denmark (AP) -- Martina Eberl birdied six of the last seven holes for a a 7-under 66 and took a one-shot lead after the opening round of the Nykredit Masters on Friday.
Eberl, a German who recently won the Italian Open for her first victory in six years on the Ladies European Tour, played in a group headed by Annika Sorenstam.
The 37-year-old Hall of Famer from Sweden is making her last appearance as a pro golfer in Europe, and was on even par after 14 holes before making birdies on the next two to sit at 2 under. She was tied for 14th.
The second-ranked Sorenstam will retire at the end of the season to start a family and pursue business interests. She has won three times on the LPGA Tour this year.
Melissa Reid of England birdied three of her last four holes en route to a 67 and was one stroke behind Eberl in second place.
Nikki Garrett of Australia eagled the long 18th for a 68 and shared third with Denise-Charlotte Becker of Germany.
Four-time major winner Laura Davies of England shot 73.
