Friday cut line: Legends Reno-Tahoe Open

Parker McLachlin took the 36-hole lead at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open on Friday after a magnificant, record-tying round of 10-under 62. At 14 under through two rounds, the Hawaii native has a four-shot advantage over John Merrick, Nick Flanagan, Larry Mize and Brian Davis.

The cut fell at even-par 144, with 71 players advancing to the weekend.

Positive movers

Steve Elkington -- After shooting a 1-over 73 in the first round, the former PGA Champion needed to go low on Friday. That's exactly what he did, firing a 3-under 69 to move to 2 under for the tournament.

Ryan Armour -- He struggled mightily in the first round of the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, walking off with a trunk-slamming 4-over-par 76. He rebounded beautifully in the second round and with a 4-under 68, he moved to even par for the tournament to make the cut on the number.

Martin Laird -- With a 1-over 73 in the first round, Laird knew he'd need to get a few shots back on Friday. That's precisely what he did, firing a 2-under 70 to get to 1 under for the tournament.

Negative movers

Michelle Wie -- With a golden opportunity to make the cut after an opening 1-over 73, the 18-year-old sensation from Hawaii went backwards in the second round. Wie shot an 8-over 80 on Friday to move to 9 over for the tournament, marking her eighth PGA TOUR start without a cut made.

Notah Begay III -- While he made the cut at 1 under, Begay was probably hoping for more on Friday after opening with a 3-under 69 on Thursday. In the second round, Begay went around in 2-over 74.

Ian Leggatt -- Lego, as he's known, was off to a promising start after a 4-under 68 in the first round. However, he backed up big time on Friday, shooting a 4-over 76 to make the cut on the number at even par.

On the number

Jonathan Byrd -- The Clemson University grad and two-time PGA TOUR winner shot a 2-over 73 Friday, but managed to make the cut on the number thanks largely to a 1-under 71 in the first round.

Scott Sterling -- Considering he played before the largest galleries of his life, paired with Michelle Wie the first two days, Sterling's pair of even-par 72s were, well, sterling.

Chip Sullivan -- The 2007 PGA Professional National Champion shot matching rounds of even-par 72 to make the cut. It was his third cut made in six TOUR starts this season.

Notable missed cuts

David Duval -- The struggles continue for the former world No. 1. Duval shot rounds of 78-76 to miss the cut in Reno in his first start since a season-best tie for 39th at the Open Championship. It was Duval's 11th missed cut in 14 starts this season.

Garrett Willis -- This former PGA TOUR winner shot an even-par 72 on Thursday, but was unable to follow it up on Friday, as evidence of his 6-over 78.

Dick Mast -- The Champions Tour player opened with a promising 3-under 69, but gave it all back and then some in the second round. He shot a 7-over 79 on Friday in just his first start on the PGA TOUR this season.
