Jonathan Kaye, Guy Boros, Camilo Villegas
Tee time: 12:30 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 2

Why you should watch
: This group enjoyed a tremendous first round, with Kaye sharing the lead at six-under 66 and with Villegas and Boros both firing 68s. Boros is only able to get into a handful of events a year and seems poised to make his first cut since last August. Kaye is a great story -- he's a former winner who didn't even make a start in 2007. His 66 on Thursday was the first time he'd broken 70 since Oct. 2006, but when he gets going, he usually retains heat for awhile.

Charles Howell III, Corey Pavin, David Toms
Tee time: 1 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins:
29

Why you should watch: Toms appears close to regaining the form that made him one of the PGA TOUR's most consistent players. Toms racked up seven birdies during a first-round 66, but he will have to avoid the same pitfall he faced two weeks ago at the Wachovia Championship, when he opened with rounds of 67-75. Toms' 66 in the first round at TPC Sugarloaf was his best round of the year and only the fourth time he'd broken 70.

Kenny Perry, Joe Ogilvie, Dean Wilson
Tee time: 8 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins:
11

Why you should watch: If anyone had reason to shoot 75 at TPC Sugarloaf, it was Perry, who had a heartbreaking 81 in the final round of THE PLAYERS last week. Instead, the 48-year-old Perry came out firing with a bogey-free 66 to share the lead after Round 1. Perry has always been a fine ballstriker, but his putting has been tremendous in recent weeks. He only needed 26 putts on Thursday, and it would be a very popular win if Perry was able to rebound from last week's major disappointment.
