Q-school: Second stage update

Nov. 21, 2008  |   |  PGATOUR.com

18-HOLE RECAP | 36-HOLE RECAP
SCORES: Lantana, Texas | Beaumont, Calif.

• LAST WEEK: RECAP | Central Fla. | North Fla. | Texas | Georgia

What a difference a day makes. After nearly impossible scoring conditions at Lantana Golf Club in Lantana, Texas on Thursday, low scores were much easier to come by in Friday's third round.

Matt Richardson of the United Kingdom fired a 5-under 67 and shares the lead with PGA TOUR veteran Jimmy Walker at 5 under through 54 holes.

Tyler Aldridge, Brian Vranesh and Henrik Bjornstad are all just a shot back at 4 under.

Gary Woodland of Kansas got right back into the mix with a best-of-the-day 6-under 66 on Friday to move to 1 over for the tournament in a tie for 21st. The 66 by Woodland was an amazing 12 shots better than the 78 he recorded on Thursday.

Thanks to a 5-under 67 on Friday at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif., Steve Friesen moved to 12 under through 54 holes and owns a one-shot edge over Jesse Mueller.

S.S. Hong and Jeff Hart are tied for third, three shots off the lead at 9 under.

Former PGA TOUR winner Mark Hensby shot a 1-under 71 in the third round and at 7 under, he's in a five-way tie for 11th.
