HARTFORD, Conn. - The Travelers Championship and the PGA TOUR are proud to announce a special partnership to support Men's Health Month, a national initiative in the month of June.

The week of the Travelers Championship will be Men's Health Week on the PGA TOUR, with goals of heightening awareness of preventable health problems and the benefits of health and fitness and encouraging the importance of early detection in men and boys by having TOUR professionals serve as role models. Fans and players will be part of special programming to support this cause during the Travelers Championship, to be held June 16 - 22 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.

"Health and fitness are a vital part of my game, both for mental and physical success. I really focused on fitness and nutrition in the off season and it is a critical component as I strive to get better," states Hunter Mahan, defending champion of the Travelers Championship.

Highlighting the week will be a Men's Health Player Forum on Wednesday, June 18 at 3 p.m. on the new practice facility at TPC River Highlands. This interactive event will feature health and fitness tips from panelists and a question and answer session with three PGA TOUR professionals, as well as Jeffrey Fronk, personal trainer for PGA TOUR professional Vijay Singh, and Ron Kaspriske, fitness editor of Golf Digest.

"The PGA TOUR connects with so many men, either in the industry or as sports fans. We have a great opportunity to encourage awareness of men's health issues and to encourage all to live well in order to play well. We are grateful to our partners who are making Men's Health Week on the PGA TOUR possible," Tim Finchem, commissioner of the PGA TOUR, said.

Fans at the Travelers Championship will have the opportunity to be part of a variety of Men's Health programs, including health screenings and samplings in the Men's Health area of the on-site expo, healthy food options in concessions and a special course map that fans can use to track mileage as they follow their favorite players around the course.

Golf is a great form of exercise. In fact, golf has the distinction of being the only sport in which both players and spectators realize the health benefits of exercise. During a normal round, a PGA TOUR professional walks close to 5 miles. If fans were to follow a golfer along all 18 holes of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands, they would walk 4.25 miles.
