FedEx Kinko's Classic: Final Round Notebook PGA TOUR Staff LAKEWAY, Texas -- Scott Hoch's 54-hole total of 15-under-par 201 on Sunday set a new FedEx Kinko's Classic record, breaking the old mark of 11-under-par 205 by Jay Haas in 2006. ![]() Scott Hoch earned a victory in only his 10th Champions Tour start. With his victory, Hoch earns $240,000 and 240 points in the Charles Schwab Cup race. In addition, the win earns him a berth in the 2008 and 2009 MasterCard Championship at Hualalai in Hawaii. Hoch's victory came in just his 10th start on the Champions Tour. He joined the Tour late in 2006 after being sidelined for much of the past season with a left hand/wrist injury which required surgery in October 2005. It was also his first victory in a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event since he claimed the 2003 Ford Championship at Doral, one of his 11 PGA TOUR titles. Hoch's previous best finish on the Champions Tour was a T7 at this year's Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am in February. Jay Haas continues to lead the Charles Schwab Cup race with 1,038 points, followed by Hale Irwin (741), Loren Roberts (675), Tom Purtzer (578) and Tom Kite (566). The field averaged 73.423 for the event, a slight jump from last year's average of 73.365. Hale Irwin continued his stellar play in 2007, finishing fourth. It was his fifth top-10 finish this year and he earned $96,000, pushing his 2007 earnings to $784,638. Defending champion Jay Haas fired a 4-under-par 68 on Sunday to finish 10th. It was the best showing by a defending champion in this event. The previous best was T21 by Jim Thorpe in 2006. Joe Ozaki has quietly put together a solid 2007 season. He finished sixth, which was his fourth straight top-10 finish, and his check for $64,000 increased his season earnings to $304,604 (22nd). He had just two top-10 efforts in 2006. David Eger also turned in another strong performance, finishing T7. Like Ozaki, he also earned a spot in this field with a top-10 finish at The Ginn Championship Hammock Beach. It was Eger's third straight top 10. He has six this year and has earned $409,555. That nearly matches his 2006 total of $423,347. No. 9 was the most difficult hole with a scoring average of 4.491 for the tournament and there were just 12 birdies overall. That would make it the second-most difficult hole on the Champions Tour in 2007. The most difficult remains No. 15 at the TPC Tampa Bay (Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am), which averaged 4.520. Donnie Hammond finished T55 in his Champions Tour debut. Loren Roberts had Sunday's best round, a 6-under-par 66, and finished third. It was his 30th top-10 finish in 36 Champions Tour starts.
