Players who improved their FedExCup points position after Round 2

Player: Aaron Baddeley
Scores/Position: 67-66 (-9)/T1
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 21st
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 5th
Summary: Already comfortably into the BMW Championship field, Badds needs to start focusing on locking down a spot in the Playoffs finale -- the 30-player TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. So far, he's on the right track. After a 5-under 66 on Saturday, the Aussie's projected FedExCup standing moved up 16 spots to No. 5.

Player: Rich Beem
Scores/Position: 67-66 (-9)/T1
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 113
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 42
Summary: What a round for Beemer on Saturday. In order to control his own destiny and earn a spot in next week's BMW Championship, he needs to finish no worse than a tie for second this week. When that was mentioned during his post-round interview, Beem said he thought he needed to be tied for third or better. When told that wasn't the case -- it needed to be a tie for second or better for him to advance -- the entertaining Beem said if he finished third, he might go to Chicago anyway.

Player: Sean O'Hair
Scores/Position: 68-66 (-8)/T4
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 68
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 47
Summary: Poor putting has been holding O'Hair back since his win in the 2005 John Deere Classic as a rookie. But, it looks like the short-stick might be coming around for the 25-year-old as evidence of his stellar opening rounds this week. Can he keep it going for the last two rounds? He'll have to if he hopes to be in next week's field. He came to Boston near that top-70 bubble at No. 68.

Player: Ryuji Imada
Scores/Position: 69-66 (-7)/T8
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 58
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 45
Summary: Imada hasn't played great since losing to Zach Johnson in a playoff at the AT&T Classic. He's in the midst of his biggest slump of the season, having missed the cut in six of his last eight events, including the last three in a row, so he's due for a good one. This could be the week.

Player: Craig Kanada
Scores/Position: 67-68 (-7)/T8
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 103
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 88
Summary: Much like Imada, Kanada hasn't done a whole lot since his high finish -- a tie for 12th -- at the AT&T Classic. Of the two, Kanada is definitely the more desperate player. He entered the Deutsche Bank Championship at No. 103 in the FedExCup standings. With his two rounds in the 60s here, Kanada is getting back on track. His problem pretty much all season has been avoiding a big number in the final two rounds. We'll see if he can amend that this week.

Players who fell in the FedExCup points after Round 2

Player: Peter Lonard
Scores/Position: 72-74 (+4)/Missed Cut
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 69
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 74
Summary: Lonard's playoff life might be over. It's never a good time for an over-par round on the PGA TOUR, but the Aussie had two at the Deutsche Bank Championship and missed the cut. He entered the week one spot inside the number needed to get into the BMW Championship, but now he has to sit around to see what his fate will be.

Player: Steve Flesch
Scores/Position: 71-72 (+1)/T69
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 70
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 72
Summary: Flesch made the cut on the number -- 1-over par -- at the Deutsche Bank Championship. He came here as the bubble man sitting in the enviable, but uncomfortable 70th position for the BMW Championship, the last spot available for entry. Flesch has made it clear that Chicago is a tournament he doesn't want to miss and it looks like he controls whether or not he makes it there.

Player: Carl Pettersson
Scores/Position: 72-72 (+2)/Missed Cut
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 43
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 53
Summary: Missed cuts are never fun -- especially right now when you're trying to improve your FedExCup ranking to sneak into THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. But, that's what Pettersson has done and the uphill battle to get into THE TOUR Championship at next week's BMW Championship just got a whole lot steeper.

Player: Charley Hoffman
Scores/Position: 73-72 (+3)/Missed Cut
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 45
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 55
Summary: With those flowing blond locks, Hoffman looks like the PGA TOUR's version of Hulk Hogan. Unfortunately, he lost his match against the TPC Boston, hence missing the cut in the Deutsche Bank Championship. The good news is he looks to be in fine shape for a spot in the third round of the Playoffs at the BMW Championship.

Player: Kevin Sutherland
Scores/Position: 68-77 (+3)/Missed Cut
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 49
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 2: 58
Summary: Sutherland was off to a great start in the Deutsche Bank Championship after an opening-round 68. However, the second round was a different story. With a 6-over 77 he dropped nine spots in the projected standings, but should still be safe for the BMW Championship.
