Players who improved their FedExCup points position after Round 1

Player: Camilo Villegas
Friday's Score/Position: 63 (-8)/1
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 46th
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 4th
Summary: Villegas was already a safe bet to make the third round of the PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoffs next week in Chicago, but if he can keep the momentum going after his terrific round of 8-under-par 63 on Friday, he could become a serious contender to become the first FedExCup champion.

Player: Mike Weir
Friday's Score/Position: 65 (-6)/T2
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 88
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 38
Summary: It has been tough going for Canadian Mike Weir all season -- just two top 10s that came in consecutive starts. He needs to start playing better golf and there's no time like the present. Especially with the Presidents Cup right around the corner, where he was recently selected as one of Gary Player's captain's picks for the International Team. Friday at the Deutsche Bank Championship was a fine start.

Player: Ryan Moore
Friday's Score/Position: 65 (-6)/T2
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 52
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 22
Summary: Like Mike Weir, Moore has just two top 10s in 2007. His best finish was second place at the Memorial Tournament presented by Stanley Morgan. Like Villegas, Moore was a pretty sure bet for next week's BMW Championship. While points have mattered all season, they're truly at a premium now, as players fight for their Playoffs lives.

Player: Brett Wetterich
Friday's Score/Position: 66 (-5)/T4
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 51
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 36
Summary: Wetterich has played a lot of good golf over the last two seasons, but hasn't been great lately. His best finish in his last 10 starts was a tie for 32nd at the PGA Championship. The 66 that he shot in the Deutsche Bank Championship on Friday was his best round since a 65 in the final round of the Travelers Championship at the end of June.

Player: Steve Elkington
Friday's Score/Position: 66 (-5)/T4
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 93
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 73
Summary: Elkington has his work cut out for him this week if he's planning on teeing it up in the BMW Championship next week in Chicago. Elk began the week well outside of the top-70 -- the mark required to get into the field at the BMW Championship. However, with a 66 on Friday, he moved up significantly and is hovering around the magic number of 70 at No. 73. He's going to need to keep it going the rest of the way to have a chance.

Players who fell in the FedExCup points after Round 1

Player: Peter Lonard
Friday's Score/Position: 72 (+1)/T73
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 69
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 74
Summary: After a 1-over 72 on Friday, Lonard is skating on thin ice. He entered the Deutsche Bank Championship one spot better than required to crack the BMW Championship field, but slipped back five spots after his opening score. It's going to have to get better for Lonard if he doesn't want a forced vacation.

Player: Rocco Mediate
Friday's Score/Position: 71 (E)/T56
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 65
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 70
Summary: After starting the 2007 season as a broadcaster for the GOLF CHANNEL, the fact that Rocco even made it to the PGA TOUR postseason is impressive. While he didn't lose any shots to par when all was said and done on Friday, he did lose five spots in the projected FedExCup standings. If that remains the same, it puts him on the number of 70 for the BMW Championship.

Player: Jose Coceres
Friday's Score/Position: 73 (+2)/T88
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 62
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 68
Summary: The cheery Argentine slipped six spots in the projected standings after a 2-over 73 on Friday. He's still within in the top 70, but there's very little room for error as he's pushing the fine line of being in and being out.

Player: Ian Poulter
Friday's Score/Position: 73 (+2)/T88
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 59
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 64
Summary: The charismatic Englishman with the whacky clothes should be safe for the BMW Championship, but he's flirting with trouble after his 73 on Friday dropped him five spots to a projected ranking of No. 64.

Player: Arron Oberholser
Friday's Score/Position: 69 (-2)/T30
FedExCup Standing Before Deutsche Bank Championship: 67
Projected FedExCup Standing After Round 1: 69
Summary: Despite shooting a 2-under 69 on Friday, Oberholser dropped two spots to No. 69 in the projected standings. Playing well seems to have worked against him, but there are still three days left to lock down a spot in the BMW Championship.
