| Woods intends to play all four FedExCup Playoffs events AKRON, Ohio -- One of the promotional spots for the inaugural FedExCup currently airing on television features Tiger Woods putting his shoes on in a locker room and whistling "Eye of the Tiger" as he leaves. Turns out, he wasn't just whistling "Dixie," either. For the second time in a week, Woods has said he currently plans to play in every event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. ![]() Tiger Woods said he intends on playing all four PGA TOUR Playoff events for the FedExCup. (Getty Images) "My intent is to play all four," Woods said Wednesday during a pre-tournament interview at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational. Woods, who is the two-time defending champion at Firestone Country Club this week, currently ranks No. 1 in the FedExCup standings, leading Vijay Singh by 1,829 points. The game's No. 1 player is a three-time winner already this year. The 2007 PGA TOUR schedule culminates in the ground-breaking, four-event Playoff series that begins with The Barclays at Westchester Country Club Aug. 23-26. The winner of the FedExCup will receive a $10 million bonus. To earn the FedExCup, though, the season-long champion will have a busy schedule in August and September. With two events this week -- the Bridgestone Invitational and Reno-Tahoe Open -- nearly everyone is competing. The season's final major, the PGA Championship, takes center stage next week, followed by the Wyndham Championship, where the 144 players who will enter the Playoffs are finalized. The Playoffs immediately follow those three weeks. So some players could now find themselves playing as many as seven weeks in a row. Throw in The Presidents Cup, which is two weeks after the final Playoff event, THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, and some players could play seven or eight tournaments in a nine-week stretch. "Yeah, I haven't played this much in a long time, this many weeks," Woods said. "It's going to be interesting to see how everything holds up. It's a lot of golf later in the year." There is light at the end of the tunnel, though. "After all that, you get a nice big break, which is nice," Woods said, flashing that megawatt smile of his. |
