Usually this space is reserved for an historical, numerical account of the history of the following weekend's tournament. However, the AT&T National has no history, only a present. You see, this weekend will be the inaugural event.

So, if you'll allow, we'll deviate slightly from the norm this week. What follows is a statistical look at the PGA TOUR through the first six months of the 2007 season.

81The number of players with more than one top-10 finish so far this season. David Toms leads the list with seven in 16 events.

NUMBER THAT COULD BE CHALLENGED THIS WEEK, BUT PROBABLY WON'T

27.74Shigeki Maruyama's average putts per round in 43 TOUR rounds this season. That leads the TOUR. Only one other player averages less than 28 putts per round -- Jose Coceres at 27.91 fir 23 rounds.
