Feb. 18, 2007

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The field for next week's World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship has been finalized, and all 64 players who qualified via the Official World Golf Ranking (as of Monday, Feb. 12) have committed to play in the tournament.

The field currently includes players from 18 countries. Play begins Wednesday, Feb. 21, at The Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Tucson, Ariz., a new venue for the tournament in its ninth year.

The No. 1 seeds for the Accenture Match Play Championship are Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson, winner of last week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

The four brackets at the Accenture Match Play Championship are named in honor of Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Sam Snead. Players in each of the four brackets are seeded No. 1 through No. 16, with the top-ranked golfer playing the No. 16 seed, No. 2 pairing off against No. 15, No. 3 vs. No. 14, and so forth in the first round.

Woods, the highest-ranked player from the Official World Golf Ranking, will be the top seed in the Bobby Jones bracket. Furyk, the second-ranked player in the world, will be the top seed in the Gary Player bracket, while Scott and Mickelson will be the top seeds in the Snead and Hogan brackets, respectively.

The brackets will be released Sunday, Feb. 18, at 10 p.m. ET, when they become official. In the event a player withdraws from the Accenture Match Play Championship, he will be replaced by the highest available player from the alternate list. The current alternates are the next three players on the Official World Golf Rankings: J.J. Henry (No. 65); John Senden (No. 66); and Dean Wilson (No. 67).
