For about 10 minutes on Saturday at East Lake Golf Club, Ogilvy shared the course record of 62 with Bart Bryant and Tim Clark before Zach Johnson -- who was playing in the group behind Ogilvy -- shot 60 to shatter the record by two strokes and steal it from the trio.

But, in making 10 birdies and just two bogeys on a sunny day at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, Ogilvy decided it was high time he got into the birdie-making action that marked the first two rounds and fire his way back into contention.

Ogilvy's rounds of 68 and 70 on Thursday and Friday, respectively, were respectable but couldn't compare to the 62s and 63s that Clark, Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington were putting on the boards.

"I didn't play so bad the first couple of days, I just didn't make as many putts I guess as the guys who were right up there at the top. And today I hit the ball quite well," Ogilvy said, who now sits at 10-under-par for the tournament. "But as I said, I hit the ball quite well the first two days, I just didn't make as many as today. I made the ones I was supposed to make and a couple of bonus long ones, as well."

Those long ones include a 39-ft. made putt for birdie at No. 17, plus a 15-footer at No. 5 and a nearly 17-footer at No. 7 for birdie as well. In fact, Ogilvy, an Australian, sank 14 of his 16 putts that were less than 10 feet and both of his putts between 15-20 feet.

"The first couple days I have no idea how [others] were [going low]. Today I think it's the easiest greens I've ever putted on. ...

"They're not fast but they're true and it goes where you hit it. As long as you hit it anywhere around the pin, if you hit good putts they're going to go in. Slow greens have never been my favorite, but when you start getting a feel for hitting putts, you can hit them and not be afraid it's going to get away from you. And yeah, today I made it from everywhere, which was fun."

A three-time PGA TOUR winner, the now 30-year-old Ogilvy earned his first major championship at the 2006 U.S. Open at the ripe old age of 29. He hasn't followed up his '06 season with any wins in 2007, however, and has earned just seven top-10s in 21 tries.
